  1. Re:GFI Mail Essentials on Exchange Compatible Spam Filters? · · Score: 1
I have to agree with GFI Products. We use GFI MailEssentials for anti-spam and MailSecurity for anti-virus. I am not sure on the initial costs, but our yearly maintenance fee for a 50 user license of each is a total of $400 for both products plus 2 virus subscriptions (BitDefender and Norman). Their support is great also.

We have never had a virus slip through. Last November when whatever virus was going around we were receiving 3000+ a day of these and no problems. Because of this, our server anti-virus (eTrust) has never processed 1 virus.

For anti-spam the MailEssentials works great also. I use 8 of their filters. Mail I know is spam is deleted. If I am not sure (my last filters, including Bayesian) I look through it. I have to look at the headers of about 30 emails a day to see if it caught real mail. We process 1260 emails per weekday of which 60% is spam. On the weekends we process about 600 per day and 95% is spam.

  2. They are good for yourself also on Behavioral Interviews for New Hires? · · Score: 1

I had to take one of these after I had an interview and was considered a good candidate. They emailed me the results the next day. I found it amazing how bang on the results were based on obscure questions. It showed what motivated me, what bugged me, how to get more work out me, etc. I am glad I took it just for my own sake.

Actually, Boot Camp is "luring" in Windows users even if that is not it's first intent.

For my part, I have not used a Mac since my work purchased one of the old original ones way back when. I played with it a bit for a week and that was it.

I am not "pro-Windows" or "anti-Mac" but all I have really been exposed to is the Windows environment (and I am an IT manager of an iSeries shop)! If I had the money I would definitely purchase a Mac Laptop and put XP on it just to see what it can do for me. I just purchased a new $499 Compaq laptop and I plan on dual booting it to Linux just for the experience. The Boot Camp program makes me want to do the same with a Mac, I just cannot afford it and it isn't a pressing need.

  4. Re:Pricing matters on Pen-Based PDA Market on Death Bed · · Score: 1

I have a few big problems with using a phone for calendar and address book. I do keep SOME numbers on my phone for fast access and also for caller ID purposes. Granted, if I had a fancier cell phone these might not be a problem, but why spend $$$ for the fancy phone when I have a great PDA (Sony SJ22) that has loads of features and I have a new one as a spare I got for under $50 on eBay. Not to mention all the extra things my PDA has on it like great games and a full searchable bible.

    1. When I change phones I lose all my info. If my PDA breaks I can hotsync any replacement.
    2. I can keep my PDA info in sync with my PC info.
    3. I find grafitti entry to be way easier than phone text entry.

I am dating myself with lots of this (Sony quit making the Clie a few years ago) but my wife and 5 of my kids also have newer Palm PDA's and love them.

When I lived in Canada I needed to replace the engine on my 93 Honda Civic. The Honda Dealer in Manitoba could get me one from a place called something like Japan Motors in Ontario. They told me that it was against the law for cars in Japan to be run for over 50k km (or something like that) and that this Japan Motors imported these great used engines. CNC Motors in California does a similar thing. Their web site http://www.cncmotors.com/WhyJapan.asp explains why.
