They're not even sex charges! Since he's only wanted for questioning, this could have, should have, and would have in any other situation been done over the phone or in person outside of Sweden. No charges have actually been filed. However they don't want to do that. They want him in Sweden over mere questioning and are trying to get him extradited for it, to the point they're willing to invade an embassy which has all sorts of political implications to accomplish the goal? Over questioning? The whole thing makes you want to facepalm. Even if you don't believe all the conspiracy theories, it's hard to just shrug all this off.
Something feels wrong about comparing Windows 7/w Office 2010 and Windows 8/w Office 2013. Will Office 2013 not be available for Windows 7 or something? Why would you compare two different Office products in two different operating systems? Seems like an unreliable metric if you're trying to compare the performance between operating systems and not different versions of Office.
Are you for real? The only way to send a real message to a company whose practices you disagree with is to vote with your wallet and not purchase their products. Anything less is almost meaningless. It is in no way "douchebaggish" to decide not to support them in the future, nor to make your objections heard publicly.
I swear, the people who suffer from blind brand loyalty perplex me greatly.
Why is this modded up, really? The GP gives money to Slashdot and Slashdot lets him reply to stories before they're even shown to the rest of us (note the asterisk next to his name). It would be quite the accomplishment if someone managed to turn a 1000s uid poster and subscriber into an mere shillbot.
Perhaps not an anti-TSA ad but when I read this I immediately pictured a Romney sponsored ad that reads "My opponent thinks it's okay to just blatantly dismiss the concerns of the people. I would never do such a thing!"
If only Creative wouldn't have shit in their customers laps when Vista rolled around and actually offered proper drivers for the thing. Also have one of those cards, but I need to use hacked drivers to get any of the features the damn thing is supposed to provide. I mean Creative's drivers don't even support surround sound for this card beyond Windows XP. I swore I'd never buy another Creative card after that, which ended a long tradition of buying Creative sound cards.
Yup. Discovered that by accident when I got a new TV and hooked it up to my machine through DVI -> HDMI. Suddenly Windows was telling me I had a new output device. Checked the device list and lo and behold there was a TV icon and all my Windows sounds were coming through it.
I was under the impression that the SDK was only free during the beta testing period where Sony could iron out the kinks, and would cost a yearly subscription to use afterwards similar to testing and deploying content on the 360 through Microsoft's XNA Framework.
Jesus H. Christ, how long are you guys going to parrot this nonsense? Is this some sort of anti-.NET marketing strategy being pushed by competitors or something? Microsoft is not killing.NET. They never said they were killing.NET. They have a new version on the horizon, and even further out still, more versions in the works.
All this because of one talk that wasn't centered on.NET. It's amazing how the world freaks out over absolutely nothing.
UPDATE, 10:45 a.m.: Ty Rogers, an Amazon spokesman, declined to say what the company is doing to remedy the situation.
Why should Amazon have to do anything in the first place? This was a shipping error by UPS and has nothing to do with Amazon. Amazon wasn't even the one directly selling the TV, they just listed the page for one of their third party sellers. UPS should be the company to remedy the issue by getting the man his TV. I suspect the person the gun was intended for is eager to get his $2500 gun opposed to the $400 TV he likely got anyway.
When Valve bans you for cheating, your account isn't taken away. Your ability to play on VAC secured multiplayer servers is disabled. Sometimes it's only for the one specific game, too. So you wouldn't have your copy of Office taken for your child being banned for cheating.
In order to get your account shut down, they would need to do something particularly bad, like defrauding another user.
Not to say I agree with what Valve is doing. I really think this is a stupid idea. The idea of Steam being a general purpose app store seems inappropriate. I would not want to tie my productivity software to Valve's servers, being unable to open Word for example, when their servers are too strained. It doesn't matter as much when we're talking about entertainment software.
Of course. I figured it would have been apparent, but I was talking about their desktop/laptop hardware business in particular. You know that makes up a decent chunk of what they do.
What? No, you don't. I have not run into a company in at least 7-8 years which would not let you pay by credit card (and if you can pay by credit card, you can also pay by credit debit cards which have replaced personal checks). Most (if not all) online banking sites these days also have bill pay services which basically do exactly what your country does -- minus the national database and all the privacy issues it carries. They will send the money to where ever it needs to go for you, and can even be automated. To quote you; "No check ordering, no postal service, no stamps, no handwriting, no interpreting of handwriting, no fraudulent checks, no bounced checks..." I don't even remember the last time I wrote a check outside the occasional gift/debt to a friend as it was easier than going to the bank/atm personally. Most people writing checks today do it mostly out of habit, not for a lack of other, more robust systems.
Your notion of "normal' for us is extremely antiquated and in fact makes you look quite stupid.
...Or you know, just arrest him as he exits the vehicle to enter the plane.
Embarrassing government secrets?

This being down modded troll really is a pristine example of mod point abuse. Try to consider why there is no -1, Disagree.

Care to elaborate on what clause invalidates compatibility with GPL v3 then? Or are you just spreading FUD?

Someone who probably read a little more of the patent than yourself.
That is not even close to prior art in this case.
This isn't offtopic at all. The worm's possible suggested use is in endoscopy.

Go be a zealot somewhere else.

Really, mods? Troll?

The company is reportedly considering whether or not they want to keep relying on Microsoft's software products.
What are they really going to do? Switch to Linux? That's a laugh. What a good way to invalidate your hardware business to obscurity in the long term.
