  1. Re:Commodore PC - Deja Vu on The Commodore Comeback at CeBIT · · Score: 1

Yes that is correct. Tramiel worked in the military and began repairing things there. That thing with the logo could be worth a lot to the right collector.

  2. This is the sickest piece of garbage I have seen! on The Commodore Comeback at CeBIT · · Score: 1

I would really like to praise these new C= machines, but just like the majority of comments here I can only feel shame and mindless dumbness by viewing them and reading notes from people from the new company who insist that they are as hardcore as the C64 and Amiga maniacs they gather to.

No matter how you twist and turn things this is in reality nothing else than a me-too case with C= logos. Hey lets have some creative mindstorming and help these guys conquer Europe again!!!

    Idea nr 1,
Why do hardcore gaming PC's of today need to be as big as one sixth of a full size fridge? Why does it have to be as loud and draw as much energy? Why not create a slick, silent mini gaming box with SLI cards and tweak the power to max 150 watt?

    Idea nr2,
How about delivering a computer with Linux but do not call it Linux. Create a window manager that is lightweight and borrows a lot of ideas from Workbench. Work hard by integrating Wine or such so that users can run a majority of Windows apps and games. Most Europeans have not forgotten alternative computers as Amiga/Atari ST and would not say no to a "new" (remember it is Linux) OS.

    Idea nr3,
How about going back to the roots?
Put a SLI enabled gaming computer in a case like the good old C64 and make it as silent and cool running as the C64. A keyboard and computer built into one, but not just any hardware but the most hardcore hardware available. Tell buyers that you can use it in front of a VGA monitor or in your living room with your TV since it is so portable.

You know why we do not see ideas like these from C=?

Because these ideas demand brains to work and a gift of creativity. There is more to computers than creating 10 skins and profit.

  3. Windows sucks! AmigaOS rules! on 4 GB May Be Vista's RAM Sweet Spot · · Score: 1

Workbench 3.1 on Amiga runs fine (fast, quick, responsive etc...) with 0.5 MB (yes, 500 kb memory). Another reason why AmigaOS is better than Windows!

  4. MS has lost its head on Why "Upgrade" To Office 2007 · · Score: 1

I firmly believe MS is going down now! Microsoft wants to be cool so they redesign the look of a serious well established office application so it looks like a childrens story writing game.

  5. Nice article on On Being a Gamer in Iraq · · Score: 1

It is great to read an article about people in Iraq and not just about Americans in Iraq. I thought this was going to be a run of the mill article about some American 18 year old gung-ho rifle-and-pistol lunatic bringing his Xbox to Iraq to play Halo 2 in multiplayer every day.

  6. You all missed the point, Workbench 4 is not Linux on AmigaOS 4.0 released · · Score: 1

Wow, how depressing, there are almost no positive comments here about Workbench 4.0. Now I myself prefer Workbench 3.1 and classic 68k Amiga hardware but it is great that a new OS is comming for the Amiga. OS4 is a lightweight fast and flexible OS. If it is half of what WB 3.1 was then it will be so much less complex than Linux will ever be even though that bloated Linux install is running a fat KDE desktop manager.

  7. AmigaOs 3.1 is better than Windows XP and Linux on Why Do Computers Take So Long to Boot Up? · · Score: 2, Insightful

AmigaOS 3.1 boots in 5 seconds. Just another reason why Workbench 3.1 is better than Windows XP and Linux

  8. "Worst list ever" on Some of the Best Game Levels of All Time · · Score: 1

Horrible list IMHO. I think none of the levels in Mario Kart 64 sans starroad is something special. Funny to see he mentions that MK64 track since it is nothing special I think. And the Raven level in HL2 was only made to show off the engine of the game. Interesting that people found it so good they replayed just that section.

  9. Linux is not todays Amiga on CEO of Amiga, Inc. Interviewed · · Score: 1

You should be carefull if you say Linux is today what the Amiga was yesterday. I think it is all in the OS. -An Amiga starts on 10 seconds, a clean install on 3 -You can turn off an Amiga with no shutdown commands -You can choose to run CLI or GUI. If you choose to run CLI you can still run GUI apps -Programs are installed in logical folders -If you want to delete a program, simply erase its folder (and in some cases edit s:user-startup) -Workbench can be as small as 700 kb. A 3 MB install of Workbench would get you a highly advanced GUI that is rock stable -Remember Linux is an OS, Amiga was the whole package. Say, if you do not have a mouse just control it with amiga key + arrows. An elegant solution.

  10. Re:Hardcore and Casual on The Changing Face of Gaming · · Score: 1

I have to agree, dividing the collecting community into a hardcore and casual part seems silly to me. It is up to the person to decide if he is a collector or not. IMHO these "hardcore" articles about gaming seems so silly, it is like another top 10 list of the best game ewar on a blog. It is just a game, you play it, get bored and then buy a new.
