I know, there even was a "Tablet Edition" of Windows XP, right? So where's the result of that now? I'm sure they must have researched the use of tablet computers and came up with something. How is it possible that Microsoft has no clue whatsoever on the subject of tablets?
But that's not what TFA is about: there it talks about a tablet operating system. MS won't make one until they've got a clue on what to make, which apparently they haven't. For a software company like Microsoft, that's a pretty sad state to be in, given that fact tablets have been "the next big thing" for at least a year now.
The big deal is Dropbox' super simple interface, which integrates into your file system so even computer-illiterate people will have no problem using it, combined with the appeal of a pyramid scheme to get more free storage for every person you lure into using it. This makes every Dropbox user an advocate of Dropbox.
I'm not with you there. I have no problems whatsoever playing these type of games with a controller and I fully understand their choice of releasing it only on consoles.
I feel LA Noire should be mentioned here. Combining a sandbox game with elements from classic adventure games, and releasing it as a pure single player only game in 2011 sure is bold!
Of course Steve Jobs is more of a salesman than a geek. But even more so, he is a megalomaniac with a need to change the world. That's why he wouldn't leave Apple from something else if that would bring him more money per se, because the other thing has to be more world-changing than Apple can be.
Seriously? Wow. Here in the Netherlands, both Latin and Greek are still very common on the highest level of high schools (gymnasium). You don't have to pick both of them to graduate though, but one is usually mandatory.
what the industry is doing to prepare for the socket shift
What is this supposed to mean? What is "the industry" to begin with? People who upgrade their PC are mostly hobbyists at home anyway. Corporate desktops and servers aren't upgraded, they are replaced when they've served their purpose. At least that's my experience.
I still don't understand why it would be problem though if tablets were to fade away in a few years. That doesn't mean they're hot right now and you can earn some cash if you play your cards right. Of course, that would mean you need to act quickly and competently... which might be where the problem lies.
As the other posters point out, a reptile is obviously also an animal. But, dinosaurs aren't reptiles. Reptiles have their legs besides their body, while dinosaurs have legs under their body (like mammals and birds). Also, there is evidence at least some dinosaurs might have been warm-blooded, which also disqualifies them as reptiles. And then there's the feathers...
But you cant reply to an RSS-feed and e-mail isn't public. That's the combo where Twitter fits in. It clearly has its uses, altough it might not exactly be what the creators had anticipated.
What's the situation on IE integration in Windows these days? Is it still true that IE is really kind of always running when you start up Windows, like it was in Windows 98 or XP? If so... could you say that running just IE is more power efficient than running other browsers along with it?
You make it sound like there's just China and the US to choose from, while in fact there's still 2/3 of the world's GDP left when you deduct those two countries. The GDP of the EU and Japan is about the same as that of the US + China. And then there's Russia, Canada, Brazil, India, Australia, Mexico, South Korea, each with a GDP of about a trillion USD or more. The world is a big place, you know.
Didn't Apple announce that certain new features (albeit worthless features imho) are only available to products released through their app store for their next OSX release?
I don't want to be on a dead platform or a platform that moves in a direction I don't condone. If the new version of the operating system is not to my liking and I don't see the situation improving in future versions, I'm moving away to another platform.
...your spaghetti code will actually look like spaghetti!

So not only are they late to the party, they're not even sure what to bring and whether they'll come at all.
That's some solid vision you're showing there, mister Ballmer.

FYI, IE9 already doesn't run on Windows XP.
SuperWii
I love this name already.

I'd be happy if I were you, Windows 2000 is the best version of Windows ever released by Microsoft.

Because with the ease and flexibility of Drupal, creating a website like this costs just 1.35 million dollars. What a bargain!
Oh right, that industry. Aren't they thrilled about this, as new sockets mean new customers?

Which Microsoft guy?
The guy from this story.

Since they found it in China, the researchers concluded it has to be a copy of something from the US.

Spooky.
Or... Spocky!

Not that I'm aware of, no.
