i dont see this working. as much as i like file sharing, record companies need money to make it. If file sharing is deemed legal, there will need to be more then a flat fee (assuming the fee is minimal) to keep media companies afloat. money does eventually run out for companies too, and people will download as much as they can to make their fee worthwhile.
People do lose jobs as a result of globalization and it's painful for those who lose jobs," Mr. Bush said at meeting with young entrepreneurs at Hyderabad's Indian School of Business, one of the premier schools of its kind in India. Nonetheless, the president said, "globalization provides great opportunities."
In other words, its good for me but possibly not for the people I claim to represent. Oh well.
i think the thing that gets me is "hey, why all the secrecy?" if you are gonna release a product, at least TRY to convince me its better then the competition.
when people start getting (publically) fired for making opinions known, it makes you wonder
agreed. when i had norton antivirus, i found that it attacked my system rather then assisted it. perhaps you could make an alternate recommendation based on your own experience?
thats a really scary concept, that the very programs we rely on to protect our computers are so incredibly insecure that a couple keystrokes can completely disable our protection. you would think that if we are expected to pay a company to protect us, that they would do their best. this day in age, that is NOT the best they can do. Not a chance.
I have caller ID on both my TV and my phone. When the phone rings, each one displays a different number. Just because you pay extra for a service doesnt mean its secure or relyable. It's just an added convienience.
perhaps i should explain in short form, since its almost 1am over here
gold is traded on the stock market (1 bar gold = $XXX)
now, either big companies would revert to trading in gold or would sell their gold on the stock market, bringing the price of gold down because there is so much of it.
a bar gold = $XX
making small traders like myself lose lots due to a sudden decline, and removing business from the very companies who did it (great plan for them, eh?)
now, if they trade amoungst themselves in gold rather then in cash they maintain their wealth longer and prevent competition (who could afford to play with the big boys then?). but if they do that, its a gradual decrease in the value of our currency.
am i making sense? like i said, its 1am....and my bed is calling but this stupid computer is keeping me here.
hey, maybe these people have a point. perhaps someday mars will be a vacation spot, and not just in "total recall". and hey, i sure wouldnt mind getting my hand on all that precious metal floating out there, except that it would COMPLETELY drop the value of world currency. Especially if we found more of it. And a sudden drop in the value of the worlds currency would not be good for average joe. the person, not the tv show (what do u people take me for?)
I find this article rather creepy, only for the fact that it shows what desperate measures people have come to. On the other hand, a scientist playing with a sharks mind is sort of like a man playing with his ferarri isnt it? I'm just waiting for the day science wants to tackle the minds of something more important then fish.
while ASL is a world standard, there are many forms of it. In fact, even canada and the usa use different forms of ASL. If i am correct, the base language is still the same, so it IS possible for a chinese person who uses ASL to understand the canadian form. Again though, its another hurdle. and what about people who only know ESL? yes, its fading out, but it is much easier to find an actual person to translate from ASL rather then ESL. Maybe our little machine should do that.
The article also describes this as a point/click system. What happens when a patient needs an option that isnt there, such as "i have sharp pains on my left side, and i'm numb on the right."
On the other hand, I work with people who have disabilies, and this would be a GREAT way for those who are nonverbal to answer questions. Less guessing for me to do when I have to take them to the doctor! Heck, I'd like one of these in my group home! ("would you like to take a walk or play soccer today?")
wow, that guy must be the town weirdo...i dont know what i would think if someone asked to buy my farm's TV tower.

Saskboy, Thanks for getting to this before i did. about time SOMEONE understood

One can only hope that other states/countries follow suit if this bill passes. wouldnt that be nice?
If nothing else, it sounds like a great game for people who enjoy incredibly repetitive things. Perhaps obsessive compulsives are a great game market?

People have linked poverty and stress for years, as well as poverty and IQ. Come on....tell me something new please.

i thought wiki would be a lil farther along then that.
