    Oh, and the real math:

    Lets say the diameter is 3.5", that's 8.89 cm

    circ = 8.89 x pi = 27.93 cm
    speed = circ * 15k/min /60s = 6982 cm/s = 69.8 m/s = 251.28 km/h

    I hope you don't work for NASA.

    In addition the units, note that 3.5" is the size of the drive, and not the disk itself. and for 15k drives, the difference is substantial.

    The power consumption of the system in idle state appears to be consistent to +-1%. We don't exactly need 6 decimals of accuracy here.

    Why is this insane? They are comparing it to other processors, and using the same platform so they can compare the results.

    Higher dpi settings (in windows) are used because it is the only way to scale text in all programs, not just the browser.

    His problem, and mine, actually is that Firefox renders an atrocious mess with high dpi settings. text jumps around when hovering over links, horizontal tearing is not uncommon, tabs and toolbars have similar anomalies.

    Yeah okay, but that's for one update. There's between 2^5 and 2^6 updates out for windows xp since sp2, so that gets boring really fast.

    If there wasn't any upside, don't you think customers would go elsewhere? The total cost may be less, or your download speed significantly improved, compared to similar services with the same DRM hell.

    Why on earth would you want to make it a separate network? It's much easier to keep it separated. You could e.g. bundle a movie with a program that authenticates you to access the file.

    And obviously BitTorrent (the company) won't just let you upload without getting anything in return, lower price and faster download speed comes to mind. Because if they didn't the customers would go elsewhere.

    Lets just wait and see before bad-mouthing them. oh wait...

    ... your computer gets to run what I can only imagine will be a constantly-running, branded bittorrent client in the background, using up your bandwidth to save the MPAA money.
    It appears that you can use any bittorrent client, so you are in control of how much you wish to upload.
    There's no reason to download via bittorent.com unless there is money to be saved, or significantly improved download speeds.

    The scary thing here is the following question: If you add power generated by 'clean' sources to the grid, will people stop using 'dirty' power, or just use more power?
    We will continue to use whatever is the cheapest. Eventually that's going to be something 'clean'. I'm just hoping it's going to be fusion so the entire world doesn't have to be covered in solar cells and wind mills.

    I usually don't defend slashvertisement, but i didn't have mod point to mod either you or (if i could) submitter of this article down. :P

    Your friend won't know the difference between this and a regular call. And you still pay for it, unless of course your friend has an account. In fact it's pretty much like skypeout except that you are using your regular phone.
