I guess you'll get laughet on return of your request, I guess it is easier to see flying pigs than to ever think of apple selling computers with Linux...
and we'll finally have a decent word processor and spreadsheet
I'll have to state the obvious......competition is good, even for you die hard windows fan, competition means MS will improve their things, and thus you'll be happier with better quality products. So, you might look at it like a geek stuff or you might notice that it is an attempt to break a frozen market that is harmful to everyone.
I want you to give us all this irony-free-freedom you are talking about, now that I got freedom I will use my freedom to lock you into a room and not let you go out ever again.
Or... we could implement true freedom which would prevent anyone from removing freedom from others.
Then it means open standards initiative has failed, so the summary and title are right, two standards is the most stupid thing ever done, congratulations Massachusetts!
Well, yes, as a matter of fact, the distros stealth-purchased by Microsoft come with those stupid fonts already.
It is a terrible patch-solution to follow MS' "standard" web developers should seriously know better and I think that apple has seriously screwed up with this one, they should have tried to battle those fonts instead of keeping licensing them. Apple is an strong enough company...
When I read it I thought that both apple and google disagreed that the system is broken, but the summary actually meant that they disagreed with each other. I hope that when I read the article It doesn't turn out it was about ponies...
this goes against all what I said before, either way OS/X is good, I am an ubuntu religious myself but OS/X got its merits, I think the dock is friendlier than a taskbar and apple sets standard on looks and that stuff. But what makes OS/X good is that it is unixish and it uses cups, I just noticed my hp printer works totally out of the box in ubuntu and that was because it was built to be compatible with OS/X and thus it is a cups printer. Without OS/X hp wouldn't care.
What I am trying to say is that the more market share goes to OS/X away from windows, the better, it tells hardware and software developers not to be inept and focus on a single platform.
In a perfect world no OS would own more than 40% of the market, I think that would be perfect for us, the users, a world in which you don't only can choose but you also have to choose . And I am sure windows got a place there, in fact I guess that when this happens MS will be forced to go back and innovate and figure out that making the product better is more effective than of bullying competition.
Seriously, have you ever wondered how PDF managed to get so usual? People began using them in web pages, and asking for you to get adobe acrobat reader to read it, that's how it works. If people want your information they'll use your format.
Seriously people, what's stopping ODF is adoption, and that's only going to get fixed once people adopt it.
There's an advantage now, and it is Sun's ODF plugin for Office, this means you can distribute ODF and expect people to be able to use them
Put your money where your mouth is, if you want more ODF adoption, adopt it yourself. When sharing documents for whatever reason use ODF and if the recipient complaints, you complaint about how his MS office is not up to the date. And that he should install the plugin...
Wasn't making these blunders what apple excels at? IMHO I hate OS/X but I think it is better at the desktop than windows, they would probably have done waaaayyy better if OS/X wasn't only for their silly computers...
Hey, pick any Linux users community and check out the complaints by the new users . How many are about performance? IMHO performance is the last of the reasons Linux is not accepted on the desktop, and others are more important... (For those who don't want to look, app compatibility is the main complaint, *gasp*)

You think your average perfect popup or phising victim knows about keyboard shortcuts... heh

The guy who made the summary is an expert at bastardizing terms, either way, it is for proprietary things that are free and non-redistributable...

Getting codecs to work on Linspire
- pay linspire (and thus pay microsoft),
- sign agreement not to (distribute, modify, fix) with MS,
- Join MS' linux users list,
- Notice that the patent deal does not really protect you from any lawsuit.
- Get sued by MS now that they know you use Linux and that you signed a deal that is very easy to break.

patents=retarded.
"Hey I thought that just not using the GPL would save me!! boho!"
Yeah right, keep dreamingWhen I read it I thought that both apple and google disagreed that the system is broken, but the summary actually meant that they disagreed with each other. I hope that when I read the article It doesn't turn out it was about ponies...

wtf, you bastard stole my IP!
provided MS' next OS is as good as vista, by then everybody will still be using XP anyways...
Yeah sure, we all believe your BS now just because it was moded down, MR AC,you are so right!
