Usually they don't, for a simple reason - SE results in google a result of incoming links. It is impossible to effectively promote 10,000-60,000 sites in order to get decent SE placement within the first three pages, specially for niches popular enough to generate type-in traffic.
You are wrong in your first assumption - the domains are bought from an already popular niche. This isn't gambling or cybersquatting
And regarding clicking - you probably assume that others do as you do - But this isn't true - these sites enjoy around a 15% CTR, and actually it creates a win-win situation. The users, instead of getting a name error (useless), click an advertisement which is often relevant to their initial request, the target site gets a visitor (which is targeted due to the initial related type-in), and the owner of the site gets some money from google. Nobody is scammed, everyone are happy and get exactly what they want. The user- a relevant site, google and publisher get paid, and the target site gets a well targeted visitor.
Not every radical opinion is a Flame bait or a Troll
Not every too pro-American or too anti-American opinion is a flamebait or a troll. It usually is a genuine opinion.
People may have unpopular opinions, and might even post such opinions in public (omg !), disregarding the retarded "we must stick to the middle of the road" mentality. Moderation is not about telling people what you think of their opinion.
The right thing to do would be shipping 100$ per laptop, with open source software package and a Linux distro. The really right thing to do would be shipping this laptop with software that is being used by 95% of the worlds users , effectively giving people the skills needed to operate the tools that are used by the majority of people in the developed world. (no this isn't flaimbait)
This is not about fair use or commentary/research - The blog is commercial, filled with ads and other goodies. Her blog post generates revenue, and is not just shown to a classroom for educational purposes. This isn't about scientific blogging.

I am not a big fan of Vista, but I assure you, that considering the amount of major corporations' development centers in China, a whole lot more than 244 were sold.

These are VOTING machnies , the machines' output decide the faiths of millions, these should be the most tested and highly secured systems on the planet. I never really understood how could anyone agree to lower standards on this.
Who the hell modded me Flamebait ?
This is an opinion of a person that actually wrote in PHP and.NET, and I live in Israel and am actually familiar with Zend. Yes, Java is an alternative to.NET . No , PHP isn't. Only on slashdot you can find Anti-MS kids running WinXP modding comments about technologies they dont understand.
With all due respect ,.NET is a great platform for enterprise-level development. PHP, no matter how you flip it or manage it , isn't . Zend is not big enough to develop and patch a platform that can compete with Microsoft's flagship.
Cheers

Quite frankly, I hate your American hobby if suing everyone. She reminds me of that woman that sued Google for kicking her out of Adsense after shit generated revenue by clicking her own ads.
There is no "consensus" in the tech community about "open" and "privacy". There is one on Slashdot, but I assure you that this is far from the real world situation.
Projects such are these are FUN. They pose a great challenge and you get to shape the system as you wish, as very often the project goals are dictated by people that have no idea how to implement it, so developers dictate the budget and the actual implementation. Most people get over the ideological technology crap after a certain age.
About a year and a half ago, a presentation by Google concerning a massive online storage service called GDrive , was leaked . It was pretty much confirmed that it is on some level operational . The study might have something to do with it , maybe even so kind of clever PR .
Just my 2c.

He no longer works at Yahoo.
Besides , David Goldberg (The exec) has been very vocal on this issue for over a year , so this actually might be the reason why he and his buddy "look forward to going back to our entrepreneurial roots" as was stated in Yahoo's press release .
Just FYI , Slashdot looks broken under IE7.
While I use FF at home, and I haven't noticed any problems with it , I use IE7 at work , and there are plenty of CSS positioning problems in IE7 . While standards are cute and important and all , sites are created for users , not webmasters .
There is a company in Israel , Zoomap, that has actually done it to all the buildings in Israel . You can just type in any address in Israel and it will take you to a picture of that building.

You can easily choose to be rich, or choose to be a successful scientist or anything else . It's only a matter of will . Personally I am against both democracy and capitalism , but as long as the system is flexible , anyone can be anything in it .

Ok, Microsoft always seems cute during the "Embrace" step of the plan. The other two are the fun ones though.

That's just an empty slogan. Tell me why Digital Rights Management can't include Fair Use by design ?
Voice recognition + relevant ads could be quite a sick idea...
