With no evidence that GMO food is bad for your health...
1. Modern wheat has way too much gliadin compared to regular wheat.
2. When I was a kid, NOBODY was allergic to wheat. Yeah, people were allergic to milk or soy or peanuts or tree nuts (but not as many as today, but I had heard about it) but I didn't know a single person allergic to wheat.
3. Now, gluten intolerance is rampant. It seems like almost 10%-20% of the population can no longer eat "wheat".
But continue to believe Monsanto's propaganda instead of what you see right in front of your eyes if you want to.
Exactly. The "food pyramid" is EXACTLY why people don't trust "science". It turns out that the food pyramid makes you obese, and if you want to be thin, you should not worry about fats and eat a lot more protein and a lot less carbs.
So what does the free upgrade to 10 from 7 get me?
As I said above: Speed. Battery life. DirectX12. 3 more years of bug-fix support.
Will I have a normal UI, i.e. non-tablet/phone?
Yes. It boots to a desktop just like Windows 7.
Will programs including games break?
All of my programs work perfectly. I don't game on my laptop, but many gamers are saying it works great.
Drivers for basic stuff like sound and Geforcd 3D card?
The driver model hasn't changed since Vista, so 99% of all drivers should work just fine as is (there's always that 1% of driver developers that did something REALLY stupid). If you can't find "Windows 10" driver for something, just try the newest Vista/7/8 driver instead. Should work just fine. NVidia has been advertising Windows 10 support in their last several releases, so I'm sure you are good there.
Actually, I've been using the beta on my work laptop all along. I haven't had very many problems.
Early on, I had network, sound and HDMI problems, but those were ironed out a long time ago.
I don't use Edge or Cortana. Basically I just want it to be like a new version of Windows 7 and run all the same stuff better and faster with longer battery life. It does that very well at this point. I've only had 1 blue screen during the entire beta process. Windows 10 is very stable and a good OS. Much better than 8.
You used to be able to save "never use toll roads". You can't do that anymore and must turn it on each time now. That smells like payola to a lot of people.
I have two friends that have law degrees. They are both stay-at-home parents doing occasional work on the side now. Neither ever made more than $80K. There are NO jobs out there for lawyers.
There will still be accidents, but Google car has already gone a human lifetime of driving without a single accident, which already makes it better than 90% of real drivers.
I remember when DirecTV's new satellite blew up. For a minute, it was reported in the press that it might not be insured. That, of course, turned out to be false.
Crucial are very good as well. That's all they use at work and not a single one has failed to my knowledge. In fact, the PC tech guys have old ones sitting in their desks that they will just hand you if you need more space. I've got 3 in my PC and they have more in their drawer (128 GB).
Just because YOU don't see 1 day as enough for a phone, most people do. Therefore manufacturers target "1 day" when determining how large the battery needs to be and how efficient or fast the CPU and GPU need to be. Batteries have come a long way, but manufacturers would rather eat them up with a faster phone with more pixels.
Actually, a recent article showed that SSDs are much MORE reliable than PCs (I think it was Backblaze). They just aren't cheap enough for many applications yet.

That's about it for me. Windows 10 UI is not as good as Windows 7 for desktops. But it's good enough to make it worth it for the reasons listed above.

Early newspapers wanted the titles to stand out from the article, but still not take up ALL CAPS block space.
What if they sent the checksums first and then created all the 1024x1024 images that match that checksum. Pick the one that looks like Pluto.
And add an order of magnitude for each renewal. Song's not worth $1,000,000 to you? Guess it's in the public domain then.

So, their strategy is to NOT test the last-minute fixes?!? What could possibly go wrong?

They said it was being used in the Netherlands, not California.

OCZ and ADATA. Hey, we picked the two cheapest and worst SSD brands and had tons of problems.
I haven't had a single drive fail that didn't give SOME kind of warning before dying
Apparently you're just not old enough.
My 840 is working great on the latest firmware.
a spinning disk is a safer proposition
Tell that to my Seagate drives...
2-3 years ago there were "growing pains" in the industry as everyone was new to it. I lost several drives in that time.
All of my drives of the last 2 years still work perfectly.

PC=>HD. Sorry.

It's all Greek to you?
No. The gay marriage last week. I'm sure that's exactly what the Founding Fathers had in mind.
