That's why I don't do it and I am very upfront about this in interviews ("no regular overtime"). At my current job, when it got out of control, I just told the boss that I was looking elsewhere because of it. He immediately moved me to a project with no overtime and now I work 40 hours every week.
And when they assume that because communicating is easy for them, that "you're so smart" it should be easy for you and if you miscommunicate (meaning they are too stupid/lazy to understand basic concepts), it's because you are being devious and uncooperative.
And even worse is when the 3000 line dozen file version is deemed to be correct because it implements some pattern. Yeah, testability (for the test cases you didn't write) and "being correct" are much better than readability or simplicity.
I don't find this to be the case at all in modern OSes. Run a program you wrote in C#. Can you at any time get the 4 CPUs in Task Manager to be farther than 5% away from each other? Unless you are doing some crazy complex calculations (video, audio, compression, etc.) it's nearly impossible. I find that most people who whine about the lack of parallel execution don't actually need it.
Yeah. I had a boss that after watching Independence Day couldn't figure out why we couldn't just wirelessly connect to anything without any setup or passwords like they do on the movie. And when we told him it was impossible, he thought we were just being difficult. I hate that movie.
Vaccinations CAN'T be a personal decision, because the lack of vaccination harms all of society. The moment that your inaction on a simple matter takes someone else's life makes it no longer a personal decision.
The symptoms vary greatly depending on the victim. Some people will get more respiratory issues, some get headaches, some get nausea. The same bug causes different symptoms in different people.
The two worst flus I have ever had were within a week of getting a flu vaccine. Makes sense. Your resistance is down because you are fighting a different dead flu than the live one that comes along at the wrong time.
So, I no longer get the flu vaccine. I keep warm and rested and wash my hands often, especially after touching things that a co-worker has recently touched. And I use the paper towel to open the bathroom door (and if there isn't a trash can there I throw it on the ground so they'll get the hint, most places where I have done that have). And I haven't had a serious cold or flu since (no more than 24 hours). And this has been for over 10 years now.
Exactly. I love that argument because it's so ridiculous. Do you honestly think that either Iraq or Afghanistan was a net financial positive for the US?
I predict a global version of the French Revolution, and there will be a lot of head chopping after the authorities have run out of bullets to control the mobs.
But have you seen how CHEAPLY they can make billions of bullets?
We could make a law that nobody that doesn't own at least 1% of the company can work more than 40 hours in a week. This would solve unemployment overnight and probably benefit the economy by spreading more wealth, because companies would be forced to stop getting 80 hours per week out of people that they are paying for 40.
This is true. I have 2 lawyer friends my age and both are now staying home with the children and taking small jobs on the side. Even at their highest, they made half what I made as a software engineer/architect. And law schools keep churning out lawyers at amazing rates, to the point where soon they'll be making nearly minimum wage.

Here are all the free games: http://mamedev.org/roms/
Robby Roto is one game. The copyright was given to the developer after the company went out of business. I don't know which one you are talking about.
And here I just thought I have insomnia all these years. I'm normal, y'all are the screwed up ones...
Not to mention, if you are in charge, definitely never upload anything or encourage anyone to do it.
Because the banks are used to getting massive fees and delaying all payments for 3 days. Why should they change anything?
Why would you get rid of your precious bitcoins this week when they are going up, up, up. Meanwhile, the US dollar may be in trouble really soon...
He didn't say that. He said don't do something they won't like.

Really? They've done nothing but judge their culture on this thread...
Even extreme atheism?
Verse?
1000 stick pokers = 1000 stick pokers
100 plowers = 100 plowers + woodworkers + blacksmiths + leather workers
10 tractor drivers = 10 drivers + oil companies + steel companies + machiners + auto parts, etc.
1 robot = the above plus 20 programmers, etc.

One of the lawyers staying home with the kids is male, BTW, if that matters. But since we are talking about history, I think it does.

Natural gas isn't produced by oil companies?
