You could build something similar to the original NES. The only real problem there is having to constantly blow on the connectors to get it to work....
On the back of the unit, underneath where the battery connects, there is a power switch. Hit that switch when the unit is turned on, and when you turn it back on you get dumped to a console with some messages flying past. Then it says "entering run mode 5 in" and a little things counts down from 5 seconds.
After that it's all normal. I don't know where you will find a store with that back exposed, that 60 dollar battery is a tempting target for theft and the unit is likely to be bolted down because of it.
There is, sort of. If you check out the ogg page, there is mention of ogg tarkin, an open source video format. It doesn't appear to be anything but talk though.
Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't he film the first (episode 4, a new hope) movie in secrecy? I don't really have a point to this, but I felt like saying it.
Second, remember the simpsons episode with the radioactive man movie? alt.nerd.movie.obcessive
No shiny boxes in stores? I was at babbages a week ago and saw yellow debian boxes on the shelves. With the plastic wrap reflecting light at just the right angle they did indeed shine.
I miss those days. I remember being handed a shoe box full of aol floppys and being asked to reformat them for a class.
The cds aren't so bad though, they keep soda cans from leaving rings on my table.

Bah, my tv isn't much larger than my monitor, and it doesn't sound nearly as good as my computer. I should just get a tv tuner and give that old tv to someone.
And since my computer is next to my bed, I would much rather cuddle there than on the couch.
I agree with everything but the cache sizes. Last time I checked xeon's could be gotten with up to 2 megs of cache. That doesn't even touch Sun's hardware, but it does help the xeon.
Unless they've changed, linksys puts a readme on the floppy that tells you to use the tulip driver.
RTFM I guess...

Redhat pays Alan Cox's salary. He's the only person that comes to mind, but they do pay for other people to work on free software projects.
The audience is what I don't like about theaters.
I think he meant mario tennis on the virtual boy. It's the only game I remeber wal mart having on display for it.
Linux Standard Base and all that jazz...
Check out the GVS 9000. Not quite as nice as the new Xserve, but it has been out for a while and has a dvd burner.
score 5...insightful?
I miss the great slashdot blackout. It was so much nicer here for that week.

It's a MIPS processor, not alpha. SGI actually makes mention of it in their Linux HOWTO.

It looks more like a sun ray than an imac.

Awww..
I think it's cute when kids can click the mouse on a picture, but when you ask them what it says they can't tell you because they can't read for shit.

Actually, power gamers are a small weak segment. A couple hundred people buying new processors is nothing compared to an oem deal.
What intel should be working on are new chipsets for motherboards. I have seen nothing but crap come out of intel since the bx.

It must be Erwin's cousin.

Never mind.
It helps when I read the whole thing.
Are these the Quadro chip? Or something else.
I remember reading this in a pcgamer a year or two ago. The point was to let someone make their own units and other fun shit like that.
So what is to become of those alphas? I could find a good home :)
