The obvious question is why? And the answer is despite Windows' spanking, IBM shops still run quite a bit of OS/2 -- not that they've advertised that fact. In theory these companies can drop this Linux-OS/2 amalgam in to replace aging installations with minimal disruption.
I'm all for another alternative, but I really would like to know what part of OS/2 is running around in the wild. It's been like 10 years since I've heard that word: Nowadays is Windows, some distribution of Linux, or Snow Leopard. Finding a place in the middle of the Evil Giant, the Indie Guy, and the, er, cat, and most imporantly, a target audience might prove to be, well, impossible.
How many distro of Linux are there anyway? Granted, I'm not really into Linux, but all I keep hearing is Ubuntu, Debian, and Red Hat. This could very well be the fate of OS/2 unless they realy find that target audience.
So you are decreeing that this phone will not be cool? because it looks like a very easy phone to use, abuse, and gift to the kids to make them feel they have something interesting to mess up their social lives wherever they go, like adults do!
That _is_ cool!
Luckily for Apple, the customers are looking for the next best thing.
Even if it doesn't support Flash.
Heaver forbid the world might produce something objetively better than the iPad. Newton and Copernicus will have to rise from their graves to rewrite the whole understanding of the world.
Damn them Linux gremlins!
As for your post - i'm happy you didn't thought I was being offensive - i'd like to add that mac users are by definition more careful with their computers. They just didn't bought a computer, they bought a Mac, and that makes them be extra-careful with them.
PC users just bought a random computer for whatever they needed it and are prepared to lay waste upon their components.
I generally have a lot of care with my own PCs, but most people simply don't. They just sell-take apart, use as an ashtray or something similar with their old computers, and buy another one. That's not the case with Macs.
I actually thought it was a nice joke, made all the funnier given the replies.
When people don't drool all over apple products doesn't means they hate apple.
If Adobe did such a thing, I wouldn't count on people leaving OS X for Windows. Rather, I'd count on another company finally getting a foothold into Adobe's market.
I don't agree: They are overpriced. The same specs can be found on a PC for a lot less. Of course, some people can't be bothered, which apparently is the whole deal with macs.
(joke,/. is a bit hot today)
That doesn't completely clarifies why would microsoft release a Tablet PC, given that the Zune was pointless and the Xbox 360 is simply a way to find some gain from a powerful industries, but it is a point, so I'll concede.
That doesn't takes the ammount of data to keep it archived. It needs an author, a timestamp. You can't just throw all the twits one after the other.

Twitter isn't really based on encouraging insightful. It's based on people screaming in the dark hoping somebody does care about their dinner.
Lol, no, no , no. iPaint?
I doubt the phone would last until the next 2.0 rage in the hands of anyone who will buy it. They will get another phone by then (KIN 3?).

Then it would prove to be something really interesting for everyone. Be brave, Adobe, BE BRAVE!
OMG, it's master of the obvious! Haven't seen you in *quite* awhile!

I don't mean to be a dick, but I don't see in your post any anecdotes about macs lasting longer, or anything about macs at all.
There we go!

What company? I'm really curious.
It's funny i haven't heard any complaints about it. Apple's got a monopoly on the public outcries market.
I don't agree: They are overpriced. The same specs can be found on a PC for a lot less. Of course, some people can't be bothered, which apparently is the whole deal with macs. (joke, /. is a bit hot today)
The hooker owed him $100 and paid him back. With that money, he gave back to the rich man.
Ah, it makes sense.
Apple is the last of the true PC companies left. Everyone else just makes half the widget and outsources the rest.
This is probably true, but it doesn't makes them any better. This just makes them oddly old-fashioned.
That doesn't completely clarifies why would microsoft release a Tablet PC, given that the Zune was pointless and the Xbox 360 is simply a way to find some gain from a powerful industries, but it is a point, so I'll concede.
One could have said similar things about consumer smart phones before the iPhone was released.
The difference here is that 10 years ago smartphones weren't really there to start a competition.
Why would Microsoft release a Tablet PC?
A documental about a movie that didn't got made?
Wow, very well written reply. I honestly have nothing else to add. Bravo. Thanks for taking the time.
If you're into films, you will also probably wonder what hasn't he done anything actually good since 12 Monkeys.
