Actually, an easy way to design around the patent is to note that it specifically refers to "the server" which, from the language of the patent, is clearly the server accessed by the client. Thus, if one uses another server to assign identities and manage profiles, then one does not infringe the patent.
>Unless these people you talk about were the borg, >and could neurally interface with each other, I'm >pretty sure what you say is impossible.
That sounds like what a REAL bionic office should be like. Super-elite programmers neurally interfaced to each other. Or else the closest thing to that currently achievable.
Actually, the trend in digital video quality is generally upwards. There have been a few sudden drops in quality whenever a new platform for media appeared. Witness the progression from full color glossy photography to ASCII pr0n, to what we have now.
And while we're at it, could we do something like "rename 's/^/public_domain_/' *' on the appropriate shared files? Then we would know what to download and share. And we could do a search on "public domain" to see the progress being made.
I do not have headphones on most of the time, that is to say "usually", but I do use them "regularly". It's part of my routine. I don't, say, my teeth 24 hours a day: I use them when I eat, etc.
Where do you draw the line? If something is part of your regular functioning, is it part of you?
No, I wear it to hear music. The walkman allows me to hear sounds that are space-shifted and time-shifted. It gives to access to an artificial auditory memory.
The obnoxious and annoying voice shouting "SEGA!" at the end of each commercial didn't help either. The more melodious "SE---GA----"(descending tones) was okay though.

Sure, it's subjective. But who said adding the values was the right equation either? The parent said if the action was 10x better and the sfx were 10x better, then reloaded would be 100x the movie, despite the absence of plot. I was just using the same logic and throwing in philosophy.
I think that one of the obstacles to performing a good audio drama over the web is latency. Any sort of artificial sounding delay could throw off the actors and make it hard to establish a convincing rapport. One solution I can think of would be to have a program that simultaneously records the actor in hi fidelity while streaming a low-fidelity but low-latency signal to the other party. This way, the synchronization can be kept, more or less. The less latency, the easier it will be for actors to ignore. Once the dialog has been recorded in this way, any wave editor could then be used to merge the two high fidelity recordings
There would be no problem in Microsoft taking GPL code and putting it in their software. The problem would be with Microsoft taking GPL code, putting it in their software, and then suing others for copyright infringement if THEY copy Microsoft's software containing the GPL code.
The point of GPL is to say, yes, you can copy my code, and then others will copy yours as well.

Wrong.
Linux is doomed to be a niche player because it is not commercial. The only reason Windows is targeted to the masses is because the masses pay the programmers. In the case of linux, a wider user base would not result in more money. Companies who contribute money to Open Source development do so in order to fill specialized needs. Thus, linux will always be a niche player.

You mean FRUD, then.

Are logs fair use? Then could you "log" all the video information that goes through your entertainment system?
Maybe those weren't errors. Maybe they were "features".
People are fat enough. We don't need more hohos.
