I think that if I want to sell a product at a discount and ask that my brand is kept there in exchange I should be allowed to do so. It's like the corps are buying advertising space on a product that you own, so it should be illegal if the corp wants it so.

I would never buy a locked cell phone, but just a brand doesnt bother me too much if there is some price benefit compared to a non-branded phone.

Advertising pays for a big chung of everything we consume, and although we pay that money back when we buy stuff, there is no going back to the "build a better mousetrap" era.

Is it legal? I mean, if I was verizon coming out in the market with a rebranded cell phone I'd probably like to make it illegal for users to unbrand it, just like it's illegal to unlock the software and use it on another network. If you don't like being locked in, buy the more expensive unlocked phone ... Then again if we're talking manufacturer brands, I am proud of my Sony Ericsson P990i, why would I wanna hide it's brand?

The fact of the matter is that our energy concerns can't be solved by anything that requires more energy to make (insert corn ethanol reference here) than it produces.

There is nothing wrong with that alone. Solar power takes in more energy than it produces!

I hope I didn't miss someone else making this point but there is nothing wrong with hidrogen being just a transfer mechanism. The idea is that hidrogen is a lot more practical to carry around then batteries for instance, so even if a lot of energy is wasted by using electricity to make hidrogen out of water and then burning the hidrogen compared to using electricity to move a car in the first place, hidrogen is still a good solution until we can make batteries a lot smaller than they are now.

Or use nuclear power directly :)

I bet that in less than 20 years from now America will start building nuclear plants again ...

Why are you whining? If you don't like crippled phones from carriers and bad contracts don't take their offers! Carriers will probably give you the phone for a fraction of it's normal price and in exchange you're expected to comply, there's nothing wrong with that if you're stupid enough to go for it.

If you're smart you can find an unlocked phone. It's more expensive but you're free to use it however you want! When I hear how much americans are paying for cell phone plans I can hardly believe it!

oh, almost forgot, http://bonkheads.com/ is a pretty good one too! And Go is not that great, I mean it's a super game but it can be very time-consuming. If you want a board game I think chess is much better. Try playing with a one rook handicap if you're too good for her. :)

  13. HOMM III and CIV III on Two-Player Games for Mixed Skill Level Players? · · Score: 1

I can't believe no one suggested any of these games. TBS games are the best way to get your GF into computer gaming since they don't require a lot of reflexes and you can keep giving her advice while it's her turn. Both these games can also be played on a hot seat. I have no idea if CIV IV has a hotseat mode, I know that HOMM IV does not. Alpha centauri is another great one. Once you get her to love coop gameplay you can try something in the lines of Warcraft III tower defense maps, but only a few are suitable if there's a big difference in skills. Still, tower defense maps have pretty easy to learn strategies. This requires two computers though.
