You may have bounced off Reservoir Dogs but that doesn't mean it isn't watchable. It means you didn't like it.

STOP PIRATING OTHER PEOPLE'S STUFF. Become a civilized human being.

    These are not connected.

The only reason normal users of tech are continually facing DRM and other garbage is that people like these whining crybaby jerks are stealing stuff.

That's not the case. If nothing else, normal users of tech historically paid a certain amount for software and used a certain amount of software and those amounts were never the same.

But apart from that, software copyright infringement does not justify rootkits, system damaging DRM or indeed, hacking peoples passwords.

There's no excuse for spending enormous amouts of time and energy cracking software and hacking passwords

    It's fun!

    and then distributing the hacks/passwords.

    ..and you get major kudos.

He puts $100k of his own money into it, and uses that money to employ people for 10% higher than market rate to create something his new company sells.

Bob takes no salary, just works 80 hour weeks to assure the success of the company. All the time he's making sure suppliers are paid, customers are happy and the staff are receiving 10% above market rate for their time. 100% of the spare cash is reinvested in the company, so it never makes a profit.

Eight years later Big Corporation offer to buy Bob's company from him for $610m. Bob is the sole shareholder and decides this is a fair offer.

You're saying that Bob didn't do enough to warrant $600m? How much was Bob's work worth, and who does the rest of that cash go to?

Likely to be a cash flow thing. A profit on paper doesn't necessarily mean the cash is in your bank account, but you still need to pay suppliers and staff. So you can go out of business through a shortage of cash, even if you're profitable.

It's unusual, although less so if you're not accounting properly: If I sell you a widget for $10 and it costs me $2 then I have $8 in profit. If you don't pay me for a month (pretty standard terms) then for that month I have a loss of $2. So am I profitable or not?

I'm trading profitably, but I have a cash flow shortage and can't pay the $2 I owe, so I'm insolvent. In strict accounting terms I have zero revenue and thus no profits, because I can't realise the revenue until its received.
