  5. Easy Solution on How Would You Prefer To Send Sensitive Data? · · Score: 1

I like the idea of FTP over a site-to-site VPN the best. The VPN is created on the network side so you don't have to deal with PGP configuration on the client side, and you can restrict which hosts are allowed to access the server. By not exposing to outside your network you reduce the risk of brute force attacks. Note that FTP only works if this system uses a flat file (csv, xls, pdf, etc.) to store data/reporting.

The same idea applies to a database - send the traffic over a site-to-site VPN. Allow only the ports necessary to travel across the VPN (tcp 1433 on MSSQL, for instance), and set up restrictive accounts to allow them to query the database. Regardless, VPN is going to be your best (and safest) bet.

Maybe it's just me, but perhaps the fact that they normally shit on their customers whenever they get the chance to. Must I remind you about the rootkits, exploding batteries, or shutting down Lik-Sang? There are probably more examples, but these three are the ones that come to mind almost immediately. Oh I almost forgot - the marketing isn't too great either.

Then again, maybe I'm just cynical too.

    I disagree.

I have a TabletPC that is designed to take notes. What is even better is I can write down my notes, then have the handwriting recognition software built into the system convert what I wrote into a word or PDF document. It is a lifesaver for me since I learn best by writing down notes; when I have to review them for an exam, all I have to do is look at the converted document for clear and concise notes.

It can also save drawings and diagrams I add to my notes as well.

While I may be a special case, other people who use laptops also have their reasons as well. It is so much easier to read and organize typed notes than to try and sort through chicken-scratch handwriting.

    My random thought.
