Agreed and thanks for calling bullshit on this one. The recording industry has been saying for years that concerts typically lost money and were primarily for getting the artist out there in front of the public so that they would sell more records.
People are willing to pay $250 because it's Madonna period. One of the posts above mentioned the price of oil, yet Exxon recently posted the largest quarterly profit gain ever for any company on record. The recording industry is going down the same road. Some of that profit will go to the artists, but mostly it's going into the corporate coffers. This has nothing to do with P2P and everything to do with corporate greed.
But, while we're on the subject I anyone else as sick to freaking death as I am of the popup/banner adds that run on nearly all television shows now? I mean some of them take up nearly 40% of the screen with extremely annoying animations that are specifically designed to take your attention from what you are watching. Isn't it bad enough already with close to 10 minutes of commercial time during what's supposed to be a 30 minute program? We regulate every stinking thing else in the US, why not this shit?
I was watching a subtitled documentary last night and these insipid popups kept coming up over the narrative making it very hard to follow. And this was on PBS of all places. If anyone ever develops a popup blocker for television, I'll be first in line to buy it. Thanks for nothing FCC.

May be off topic, but I wonder why they picked these two disks to review? I'd have thought they would get a lot more notice from the/. crowd if they would have reviewed the South Park Scientology episode.
No, actually I mean the country of Colombia (note the 'o') in South America. If you'll re-read my post you'll see that I referenced the fact that many times they are referred to as a third world country here.
OTOH, the District of ColUmbia could also be compared to a third world country in some neighborhoods I've seen, so I completely understand your confusion.
They have this in Colombia as well. Drivers are prohibited from talking on cell phones without hands free kits and the fines are pretty steep. And we in the US call them a third world country? Bah!
I've seen several studies comparing drivers using their cell phones to drivers under the influence of alcohol and the results are remarkably similar. Living in South Florida, I've also witnessed a lot of idiotic driver behavior and thought "Is this guy drunk, talking on his cell phone, or just a tool?" More times than not, it's someone talking on their cell.
I beg to differ. "Eeles" may not have jaws but EELS most certainly do. The moray in particular has a strong jaw lined with razor sharp teeth that is capable of removing limbs and appendages.

I agree with some of the parent posts. It must be a slow news day. Either that, or everyone still has their hands full gathering data from http://www.broward.gov/

I contacted both my County Mayor and Commisioner regarding this issue. To date, the only response I've gotten was from an aide to the County Mayor stating that she is unavailable, but that I can take my concerns to the county records office. They say they will fulfill requests to remove personal information on an individual basis. That's fine for me, but what about my family and friends? What about all the other taxpayers who don't even know this is going on. And as another astute reader put it, it's probably too late as the site no doubt has been scraped already. Great to see my tax dollars at work.
If ever a sight deserved a slashdotting, this one does. Sadly, it looks like I can still negotiate around. Is/. losing its punch?
I could not have said this any better. People who say they 'have nothing to hide' are completely missing the point. It's not about nothing to hide, it's about our personal liberties being constantly eroded by a despotic administration that ironically pretends to espouse liberties abroad. BTW, that sound you hear is the sound of all of the brave men and women who died defending our liberties spinning incessantly in their graves. We should all be ashamed for letting this happen to us.

We can deduce that there were no women on the panel. If there had been, the male reproductive organs would have been located on the chin.

...do I have to say this? If we keep beating up on pirates, we may as well get used to Global Warming being here to stay.
For the love of God, why can't we be nice to pirates? Our childrens' future is at stake!
