Been away from Slashdot for a while now, When I come back in to take a look around at the new design I see a discussion I might like to get involved with. Let me be simple.

The problem is not that bitcoin exists, the problem is that bitcoin had a space to exist into. Please tell me this is not lost on the current slashdot generation.
What the hell is a "Use Rope" skill? Is there really (really really) a use rope skill?
With that said, I would guess there are 2 RPG camps out there. Those that use the rulebooks, and those that don't. The best DM's make the rules go away.
Playing tabletop D&D with a rulebook under your arm, is exactly like WoW. Replace rule reading DM with a computer. Playing tabletop D&D with a DM that understands how to "set the stage" is nothing like WoW.
I understand if they were selling pictures or screenshots of the movie on a T-shirt, but from the site's blog it seems that they are more "inspired from" a movie. To what level is a thought inspired from a movie and placed on a shirt IP from the movie? If I liked "Cars" and I draw a car with a smile on a tee shirt does Disney have rights to my t-shirt If that's the case wasn't there a cartoon car (a dunebuggy I believe) that talked and had animated expressions who's creators should be getting rich right about now.
Not sure I agree with "thanking them" for gunpowder if you get my drift. But.. your point is well taken, and now on every 4th of July I'll be sure to think of my Chinese firework inventing friends!
Notice how all these posts regarding how Bush could not possibly have caused all human suffering seem to get pushed down. Lets not let the facts get in the way of our Bush Bashing. Next I'm going to have to listen to how Bush was personally accountable for the development of the A-Bomb, the last 2 ice ages, and the extinction of the dinosaurs. He had to take out the dinosaurs to make the oil.

The powerplant in PA that nearly destroyed the known universe. (Yes I know it wasn't all that bad, but no matter what I put there someone would have tried to correct me.)
When they tried to upgrade to faster connections they had some failure controling the reactor. Not sure exactly, but it was explained to me that the control rod motors need slight adjustments to keep the reactor "in balance". the faster connections caused more samples to be processed than the adjustment motors could keep up with.
Take this with a big grain of salt. I believe the person who told me believed it, and he used to work at TMI, but not sure where he got his info. Whatever..

Mod story down. Hell I have seen bad posts before, but talk about the extreme example of flamebait. I could see the Apple blog. Slashdot assholes are still only holding the vast majority of discussions in english. Does slashdot think that everyone else should die because they can't speak engligh?
One of my problems with the MPAA and the other groups that make these up, is that my Daughter, loves "Dora the Explorer". It is and will be for the forseeable future illegal for her to write a "Dora the Explorer" book, short story, movie, cartoon, website EVER IN HER LIFETIME.
Not defending drug companies, but even drug companies lose the "exclusive" on a drug they spent Billions developing for after what 7 years? WTF is Dora, Micky Mouse, and all the rest virtually guaranteed forever?
What would the world look like if everything had a perpetual license? We would be paying Newton's great great great.... Grand children $2 a day to sit down, or $4 a day if you wanted to become horizontal for any reason. Imagine the payments on "your final resting place".
It would appear that the most (over 51% for sure) of the folks pulling from BT are not grabbing the latest version of linux. No numbers to back such a bold claim, but I'd still stake my next paycheck on it.
Can the folks at the RIAA really can't be that stupid. No one on the planet is that stupid are they? Do they automatically breathe? or do they have to remind themselves that to gather up more money they need to take each breath. How do they live with themselves? What other form of species is anywhere near this destructive to their own well being?
I actually do try to view these these kinds of issues, from the other perspective as well, and every time I try it, all I can come back to is "we want more money". We don't have enough money. Well RIAA ya know what? I honestly see no reason why a group of people like you need to exist, and if you all fell into the burning pit of Hell, Hell would have gotten the wrong end of the deal.
I tried to be legal. I really did. Not sure I care anymore.
Until someone allows me to pay 39.99 a month (or so) to play "any" MMORPG it's not going to become a nitch market. 9.99 here, 9.99 there 13.99 here 19.99 there... no thanks, I work to pay enough bills. One company, one plan, all games. Don't care if there is a "timer" say if you drop eq for wow you can't pick up eq again for a month, while keeping planetside and "insert game here" active. Whatever it takes, just one bill please.
