So any suggestion that goes against Google is a troll now?
Let me spell it out for you. A post suggesting any large company with bo history of encouraging piracy sponsored a project to indirectly make money from piracy is a troll.
Let me spell it out for you. A post suggesting Google sponsored this project to indirectly make money from piracy is a troll. A reply rudely slapping that post down is not.
Piracy is a tough enemy for companies who make money off there software,
Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt! Incorrect. Piracy is irrelevant for the majority of companies that make money from software. (Most software written is single use, business logic type custom apps).
and seeing how Google does not fall into this category,
Bzzzzzzzzzzzzt! Incorrect again. Google makes a hell of a lot of money off their software - just not by selling it.
OK, so you understand the requirement is for a timeline, you understand that Apple has not given a timeline, but you don't understand why Apple got a low score?
Do you think greenpeace really thought 'lets make up this study to smear Apple'? Dumb.
What are "Pallies?" Taco's summary makes no sense to me.
Why is that some slashdot readers, when something in the summary is outside their knowledgge, they can't just look it up on Google.
Tip for you - if you're using firefox, just select the word/acronym/phrase, context click & choose "search web for..." It's not that hard and you're then not bothering a group of peole who want to discuss the article, rather than answer questions from noobs.
You only posted one interview. It didn't back up your claimss. If you beleive you posted other interviews, I suggest you post those links again.
I'm not "incorrect;" nothing you stated contradicts what I stated. You tried to claim OS X relies on the entire GNU toolchain, and I kindly pointed out that GCC != entire GNU toolchain.
Reading comprehension little man, I said the free sofware alternative Stallman created was one OS X relies on. It does.
"Although Apple commits to eliminating PVC, there is no timeline for complete phase out." (Translation: we couldn't find detailed information, didn't bother.)
Braindead. You quoted the reason Apple failed that point.
Did you not read the corresponding requirement? For your reading pleasure:
Timeline for PVC phaseout
It's fine to say "yes, we're going to stop using xxx" - but it doesn't mean much without a timeline.
If you can't even be bothered reading what you're quoting, why can I be bothered replying to you?
Do you actually believe that, or are you trying to be funny?
I was trying to be funny - coz I honestly thought you were too. Let's look at your post.
I wouldn't be surprised if 99% of the people who are so passionately demanding their "fair use" exemptions are not teachers trying to educate the future business leaders of America...
1) Educating everyone is a teacher's priority, not just 'future business leaders' 2) Just because you're not a teacher doesn't mean you're not concerned with education. 3) Fair use exemptions extend to many people, not just teachers (probably 100, not 99%%).
No, the people who are complaining the most and trying to find software to break DRM protections are the people who don't want to pay for the latest CD they heard on the radio. That is all that this discussion is about.
Wrong A discussion about a tool like this (in a forum like slashdot) should involve all uses of a tool being represented.
I've read the PDF & believe you're completely incorrect.
The only point where there isn't enough information from Apple is:
No information in every country where sales of products, not even in every country with EPR laws. Apple recycling program Information for EU, Japan and Taiwan (EPR laws)
But the requirement is measuring the amount of info from Apple.
Provides info for individual customers on takeback in all countries where products are sold
Unless I've misunderstood you, it seems Apple being 'secretive' wasn't a factor here.
And if the teacher is distributing content in violation of the law, then that teacher should be fired.
In many jurisdictions, there are "fair uses" for copyrighted material in an educational context. DRM ignores those fair uses - that's why tomstdenis used 'or a clip for a class or...' as an example of how DRM can limit fair use.
Jesus Christ, I can't see how people can be so thick about this issue...
Yes - I agree with you there - but perhaps with a different definition of 'people' to you;-)
How freaking self-centered does a person have to be to believe that their rights to pirate music are more relevant than the rights of the people who actually own the music?
How freaking self-centered are those who put the protection of entertainment over the education of our children?*
Every class I've been to, the teachers have made all of their teaching material electronically available to the students.
A good teacher will show the clip during class, and have that clip available for students if they need to refresh their memory, had a conflicting class, dentists appointment, were sick (or just at the beach) (d.a)
I know well what my rights are. They are listed right in the EULA when I installed the various Music Stores.
Then you don't know what your rights are - because all those Music Store licenses allow them to change your rights, without notice, at any time, for any reason.
I hope you wouldn't accept the same conditions for your constitutional rights.
Morons. Guess they didn't learn from the Star Wars debacle.
I'm guessing they learned that fans will line up to be fleeced even while they complain about the originals being spoilt.
*sighs* if people put their money where their mouth was, we wouldn't have to put up with this shit.

Your trolling isn't helping too much.

You keep saying that word.... I do not think it means what you think it means.
From The free dictionary:
How was the parent using it incorrectly?
China & India are also not signees.
Bullshit
How can utter bullshit like this get to +5?
OK, so you understand the requirement is for a timeline, you understand that Apple has not given a timeline, but you don't understand why Apple got a low score?

QuickTime plays all the formats that it claims to
Whoopie! Everything it claims to! Wow! That's awesome.
VLC plays everything. Period.

Already did. Again, read interviews. Next.
You only posted one interview. It didn't back up your claimss. If you beleive you posted other interviews, I suggest you post those links again.

Like Greenpeace, you didn't follow the link within the link.
Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzt! Stupid Strawman alert!
The Greenpeace requirement was for a timeline for the complete phasing out of PVC. RoHS does not call for the complete phasing out of PVC.
Do you consider yourself more of a pro-apple fanboy or an anti-greenpeace troll? I can't tell from where I'm sitting (a mix of both?)
I'm getting paid for this?
The alternative the GP provided is far more likely:
Either that or I'm biting troll's bait.
I missed the part of the link where it sets a timetable for phasing out pvc. Please quote it.
The people who are oppossed to DRM are pretty diverse
That's because anyone with an ounce of sense opposes DRM once the consequences are explained.
Find a solution that cuts down on illegal use, but allows legal use.
There is no such solution. That's why such a wide spectrum oppose DRM.
"Educating everyone is a teacher's priority" translate to giving you the right to copy and distribute your Coldplay CDs to other little fanboys?
Incorrect.
DRM hasn't seemed to hinder the p2p networks at all, I can't imagine it doing so in the future.
DRM only inhibits legitimate users of content.

- are you saying you have chosen to skip on a couple of security updates?
Security updates?
Fair enough, I don't use streams often & I dont use OS X, so I wouldn't know about either....
Stallman does want to ban proprietary software, and I already proved it long ago. Next.
It's common knowledge that you proved nothing. Please post a Stallman quote where he calls forr the banning of proprietary software.
Saying OS X relies on BSD code DOES dispute your claim, because BSD uses much of its own toolchain and command-line utilities, not GNU's.
Incorrect. OS X relies on both GCC & BSD tools. Without either it would be in trouble.
trying to educate the future business leaders of America...
Hahahahaha! Now I know you're trolling! "Educating" the "future business leaders of America" indeed.
You don't "educate" business leaders - you throw them in a tank full o' sharks & promote the survivors.
