    Only if that application runs well. Unless you take the time to verify this, be prepared for a bunch of reviews saying, "Doesn't work properly/Doesn't look right on phone X." And a bunch of refunds.

    No, what's wrong is the fact that the lawyers are taking such a huge cut of the damages. While I agree they need to be paid, there is really no excuse for taking a higher percentage of damages than the people who actually were harmed.

    True, that cuts down on a lot of frivolous lawsuits. However, something like that also cuts down on a lot of legitimate lawsuits by people without a lot of money against another person or entity that does. Even if you have a bona fide claim, if you can't pay the attorney, then you are pretty much SOL.

    Remember that congress appropriates money and originates budgets, not the president

    It was my understanding that the President creates the initial budget and sends it to Congress. They fiddle with it and approve it, and then it goes back to the President for final approval.

    Most of that software is going to run like ass on a phone, though. I'm gonna guess that 90% of the software in the repositories is not optimized for touch input or for a small screen. Command line tools should work, but most people would find them quite limited on such a device. This is also the same problem people who want a "real(desktop) OS" on a touchscreen tablet refuse to address.

    What is different from Maemo than Android, iOS, or WinPhone 7 (when released)? The OS vendors aren't the ones controlling the prices, the developers are.

    So you never go to new places for lunch? And why do you need to evaluate its updates? You don't have to update an app if you don't want to, and things like Titanium Backup allow you to keep old versions of apps around if you want.

    This right here, is one of the major reasons why being an Apple developer can be better than being an Android developer. Just about everywhere the iPhone is, the App Store is, and everyone in those countries can sign up to buy/sell apps. Google only lets a small handful of countries buy apps, and an even smaller group sell apps. This is completely unacceptable, especially for a company the size of Google.

    Companies that develop software should accept this and consider alternative income methods like support contracts and priority upgrade access.

    Except that doesn't work for a lot of software, especially software on phones. How are you going to sell a support contract for Words with Friends, for instance?

    However, this also ignores the simple fact that most of the people who pirated an app wouldn't have shelled out money for it.

    If they weren't willing to pay for it, why should they get to enjoy/use it?
