Hop into the wayback machine and fire up any flavor of PICK. The database where schema is applied on use, not on storage. No length limits on fields and very fast on old hardware (really fast on new). Storing bits of xml and code are no problem. And for those users who simply must have SQL, many versions will support that too (UniData and UniVerse are two examples). It's not cool, not new, but it does work.
The cost is suspiciously low. To install proper high speed rail, you have to have new tracks that do not allow freight trains. To install new track, you must frequently purchase land or right of way. The budget will be blown on that before they lay the first track tie.
You should do some more research on who bought those wonderful bonds. You may find the federal reserve is buying the bonds. The call this "Quantitative Easing". Others simply call it printing money.
It's not about the cost of the hardware. A large organization will want the cost of management and support to be low as that is an ongoing expense. A thin client that costs double what a PC costs can return that upfront cost over a couple of years worth of much cheaper support costs.
ok, time to order up a few hundred of those cheap laptops and load them up with some nice and interesting self propogating programs (viri). Then have a few friends spend a weekend hoping across the border with them.
As long as the device can display intelligent context sensitive "button" screens the lack of phyisical buttons would be welcome. To do this, you have to really, really have the users concept of the gadget down.
Why would any thinking person be surprised about this? It's just like the hamburger pictures at your favourite fast food joint. The one you get never looks like the picture.
Your country has been attacked and your president is reading to some school kiddies with cameras rolling. Do you want him/her to jump up, announce to the cameras that we are under attack! Or, calmly wait while the secret service and his military commanders figure out a safe route back to a place where secure communications can take place? I think I want a measured calm response. 7 minutes is about right for the secret service detail to make arraingements for transport back to air force one.
Microcenter here in N. Virginia usually has what I need in the return bins! I don't really care if an item has been opened or does not have all the software/manuals. I can always get that stuff off the web site of the manufacturer.
Problem is I can never get out of the damn place without spending > $200 on stuff I probably don't really need...
Sealand has to have diesel. No diesel, no power. No power, No problems. Sealand is just too easy to close down.

Gore is one of those "intellegent" people who just can't see himself being wrong. This is way more dangerous than someone like Bush who has the wisdom to ask someone else first.
If Gore is Spock and Bush is Vader, then where do I go to sign up for the "dark side". In watching the debates I lost count of the number of times Gore said he was going to "fight" for something or make it his number one priority?! That's been one of the biggest problems with Clintoon/AlGore, they are always "fighting" for/against something. How about taking a break from the fighting and doing some governing??
Bush may not be "smarter" than Gore, but he's more Wise by far...

I'd fire you for being an idiot.
That would be brilliant to setup and run for a few days! Obambi and company would probably declare it a terrorist denial of service attack.
Bravo!

Aye, any idiot can create a web site and many do!

Relax, all the old coders (like me) are still here fixing the crap the youngsters keep trying to pass off as working code.
Micr$oft hired platoons of lobbyists years ago.

It would be more effective I would think if a whole bunch of users sued them all at once from many different jurisdictions....
