That is because you aren't always shown the price from Amazon.com, but rather one of the sellers on their marketplace. And then if you view it again, it could choose another one of the sellers. It doesn't always give you the absolute lowest price of the sellers, so you can view all of them and compare prices. I typically avoid those sellers unless they are fulfilled by Amazon (So it is prime eligible), even then I look at the alternatives. After a few rough RMA problems with Newegg, I don't trust them at all.

Although a lot of people are skeptical about this, I can only hope it will lead to something good, but the thing is, how do you fully automate something like this without having a "Review team" to verify that it is truly a malicious software.

The only way to do that is to line the programmers who create such malicious software up against a wall and execute them. It doesn't matter what platform or piece of software, there will always be bugs or exploits.. Microsoft just tends to create an excessive amount of holes and exploits :P But we wouldn't have to worry about it if there wasn't anybody to take advantage of it. Another horrible Car analogy...
So, along the same lines, GM spends millions of dollars on engines and "gives" them away when you buy the body of the car.
Microsoft is not saying that you can't use Google search, that the default is MSN and can be changed to whatever you want. So according to your analogy, if I have a GM with an older model engine, I can go to the dealership and they will give me a new one?
What would you say if Ford decided that it would tell consumers that only Mobil gas will work in their car? This is collusion. There are many legal instances where this is illegal. Remember, the phone company used to rent you the phone because they told people that other non-Bell phones would burn down your house. What I don't understand is why if we have so much precedent elsewhere is it not just applied to the computer industry.
I didn't see anywhere in the article of Microsoft saying that if you don't use MSN search, your browser would stop working...
  18. Re:future of VOIP? on Secure VoIP, an Achievable Goal · · Score: 0

A VoIP call is typically only using 8 KB/s over a WAN connection (Internet). But that depends a lot on the Codec that is being used. So no it will not clog up the lines unless you start having people using a server farm with autodialers to do cold call marketing. As of right now, it would be stupid to not have a Landline for Emergency purposes. While Vonage and other VoIP providers are required to properly handle 911 calls so the 911 center knows exactly where you are calling from, as someone mentioned before, if your power is out, you are out of luck unlike with a Landline where the phone power comes in over the phone line.
