Hmmm. But being drunk "a lot" always causes deleterious effects, even if the drunk is in denial. You're merely arguing that the proximate cause is the immoral act, and some "more root" cause is not. I don't think one needs to be so careful in picking the cause of the harm.
I would certainly agree that shooting a gun is not always immoral. Sometimes, NOT shooting a gun might be immoral. However, according to the parent post, shooting one's self in the head is not an immoral act. There I disagree.
I can maybe accept that definition, as long as "harm other people" is interpreted broadly enough.
Getting drunk a lot harms other people. Simple case: you're a dad, and every minute you're at home you're either asleep or drunk. What are you teaching your children? Do they feel loved and accepted? etc. etc.
A big mistake we make is when we act like what we do doesn't affect anyone else when in reality it does.
I really think "immoral things" has to include harming yourself, unless you could justify how your value is less than everyone else's.
What was the question again?
Wow, you werent kidding. That was your second post!
I like a lot of open source apps (inkscape and lilypond at the top of the list) but I have little interest in switching to Linux - can't on my work computer, wife would be unhappy if I did on the home computer - and after reading much of the Unix Hater's Guide that someone here on/. linked to the other day, I have even more doubts.
It's pretty expensive, but comparison to gasoline is silly. How about compared to ArF photoresist? (such as used to make 65nm and 45nm node chips) It can be over $2/mL, and it's mostly solvent too.
Econ 101:
There may be incentives for countries with forests/rainforests to cut them down and grow corn to make ethanol. Less atmospheric CO2 is absorbed afterwards in this scenario.
That's Jovians, to you, buddy, and you must be the one smoking something. We can't smoke here, what with all this methane and ammonia around. As for greenhouse gasses, Venus has got us beat.
Is that related to the fact that Apple was able to keep the iPhone a secret so well for so long, while Google couldn't, or is that just because Steve Ballmer is right: Google is just too big for its own good?
meters are used as the measure of production, rather than #transistors or some other more meaningful measure. Hiding the fact that 1 sq cm only has 1000 transistors instead of 1,000,000?
I would not recommend snorkeling or diving with it, but anything else I'd do with it is much less severe than 1m depth submersion. Even if I swim with it (not that I would), the depth is less than 1 m.
That's the real issue - the hydrostatic pressure at 1m means a lot more than 30 minutes vs 1 hour or salt water v fresh water. I'd rinse it with fresh water after salt exposure and it should be good to go.
The GPS I have can go in the water. From the Magellan website:
SporTrak Pro
Question:
How waterproof are the SporTrak models?
Answer:
Our units are currently tested to meet the specification of IEC-529, IPX7 standard. This states the unit will resist water intrusion submerged at a depth of 1 meter for 30 minutes. The water is at ambient temperature (neither artificially heated or cooled) and the unit is at ambient temperature (non-operational).
There was a proton facility at Loma Linda Medical Center when I was there a few years ago. Not sure what you meant by manufacturing proton beams. Maybe those places you mentioned made the equipment used at LLMC.
FWIW, [Women's Day] remains an official holiday in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, China, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam. [according to wikipedia]
Hasn't caught on in the US, probably in part due to its communist roots.

No good on my SE with System 7.5 and NCSA Mosaic.
as seen here: http://www.etl.noaa.gov/about/eo/science/convectio n/RBCells.html
Not sure how the rotation affects/interacts with those.
You forgot the step between the two variable containing steps and the PROFIT! that's a constant: ????
It loses some funny points (admittedly, it didn't have much to lose) without the ????.

Nope. Try again.
That's funny. You're correcting him and simultaneously saying the same thing he said!

That's why I'm on the All-Acetone Diet (tm). MMMmmmm! MEK smoothies!
Just kidding.

. . .like the sign in the grocery store checkout that reads: "10 items or less". Aaaaaaagh!
So the month is the first thing you need to know. Year is assumed to be the current one.
I'd like to go all metric, ISO dates, etc. but it's hard living in America to do that.
The point of camping? It's whatever you want it to be, isn't it? I happen to enjoy sleep - sometimes outdoors.
. . .or INEL. http://www.inl.gov/laboratory/index.shtml
. . .I would hang my own Ph.D. on it's credibility.
Did he really write "it's" with the apostrophe? Hah!
Is he a slug?

Is there a solution to the woeful lack of qualified mathematics teachers that the Teachers' Union will find acceptable?"
No. The teachers unions don't give a rip about teaching kids. They're about money.
