    They usually do RAID 0, which is worse for data protection than having no RAID at all.

    Thank god thunderbolt ended the raid problem then. Before the end of next year you will see thunderbolt FC dongles, will that make you feel better.

    Depends on the company. For many small business, mac-mini is a decent server. Add in a thunderbolt port and your storage options open up pretty wide.

    Add two thunderbolt ports and you have a cluster node that is very hard to beat.

    I assume from your description you are not running any Linux Variant or OSX, heck your not even running Windows 7.

    I can quite easily break 10mb/s and even 20mb/s to the Internet on WiFi.... I routinely break 400mb/s between laptops over gigabit ethernet. 70-80mbs is common on N.

    Why do you suck so bad at moving data? During off all your damn anti-virus-net-filter-save-me-from-my-self-crapola and see what you can do.

    Interestingly, all his arguments against rebooting would bolster your argument for periodic planned reboots. One of his points was that someone may have screwed up the system, it would be better to find that in a controlled environment.

    I will stay away from periodic reboots and remain firmly entrenched in the land of if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

    Someone should tell him his company does not actually charge for subscriptions... So yeah..Wow this is weirder than the WSJ Guy, you know the WSJ that makes more off selling through the App store than they do their affiliate program..

    This whole thing is a non-sensical twilight zone where people are speaking out on behalf of their own companies which are not negatively impacted by the change. Here's to you mr complaining about Apple to try and get some attention for my company no one cares about..

    Interestingly the Texas Sales Tax even with food and medicine exemptions appears to remain regressive. http://www.cppp.org/files/7/pop_226.pdf The organization is clearly left leaning, but their numbers are sound.

    It is certainly the law in Texas and Amazon should have started collecting Tax from Texas Residents they day they opened it. I wonder if they remember to register in Texas and pay their Franchise tax too.

    I love Amazon and spend tons of money there. They were wrong and will have to pay the bill.

    Smartphones are toys, and at their current cost, they're not compelling toys for more people. They either need to increase their functionality to match netbooks and laptops or they need to drop in price to be more commensurate with their actual usefulness before they become widely accepted as the norm.

    I sure do an awful lot of remote server and database administration from the middle of nowhere using my "toy", then. I almost never bother bringing my laptop with me when I travel these days.

    I can SSH/VNC/RDP or anything from nearly every smartphone on the market and work quite effectively. I can read an email, edit a document, retouch a photograph. I do not even have to carry a man purse.

    If anything is a toy, it is a Netbook. The iPad started a trend and combined with upcoming Android/WebOs contenders netbooks are doomed, any niche they did have is gone.

    There are 14 million iPads, and 45 Galaxy tabs, (Which by the way is running on a very old OS that google asked them not to use)...

    Flash just sucks in all of its Android implementations btw. Perhaps you have never actually tried it. Come to think of it, flash just sucks.

    Not in this context its not, when we are talking about Apps platform, you must first add in all of the iPod touches and iPads and then through out all the crap that can't run most of the new apps.

    It is now a very distant second mobile platform.

    Since a dual processor mb will cost you $350 minimum and you will be hard pressed to find a 6 core Xeon for under $1000 (buying from Newegg), going to have a hard time getting RAM under your $2500 budget. Please link the dual processor MB and 6-core Xeons you are using.

    Not really expecting a response, but if I get one cool, now I know where to buy CPUs for half-off.
