    There is also a plugin for Reiser3 that is really sloppy. The easiest way to READ Reiser3 is user the plugins built in mini webserver in a web browser ( a serious PITA ).

    They also had a really buggy Java reader as well ( was buggy as hell last I tried to use it anyways) maybe they have had better luck lately though.

    If you are talking about the IFS EXT2/3 driver it has been stable for me. I have 1.5TB of EXT3 drives that I access from WinXP from that driver. The only thing that sucks about it is if the FS needs an integrity check ( either from boots or a bad shutdown) you need to boot into Linux to do it. It would be nice if fsck.ext2 would be ported to Win32 for these situations, especially since the IFS driver now supports stuff like USB hotpluging ( have not actually TRIED it but it claims it does).

    Hmmm interesting.
    Hopefully the Linux on iPaq hx2000 series gets finished now. That would be one sweet handheld computer then, decent amount of RAM and 620MHz processor in the palm of your hand - and not limited to winCE.

    Linux boots on the device and GPE runs, but they had troubles with the WIFI module and a few of the Intel chips. Plus I think only one guy was working on it.

    Don't know what your problem was, MY 200M has worked just fine from edgy > gutsy. I only had to install the vanilla drivers from the ATI site, and if you can't find a Debian / Ubuntu walk through for that you need to take remedial Google classes.

    Hmmm, I post very little. So far this year I average about 2 per month, yet I get mod points on a pretty regular basis. Usually I get mod points in a cycle 3 days after mod point end then 5 then 3 then 4 then repeat. I don't metamod often either, maybe once for every 2-3 POSTS I make.

    As a slight aside, for about a year I was getting mod points EVERY sat. at 5PM

    Don't know where the hell you are coming from, but buying from ANY store background checks are pretty thorough on ANY non air powered firearm. I just bought a target rifle recently and had to wait a week for the background check to clear ( yeah I have been arrested a few times, no violence 1 conviction :-P ) so they are pretty thorough in their checks...

    What I would like to see is this: MediaDefender tries to DOS piratebays' tracker so piratebay just reroutes ohhhh say 1-2% ( not a noticable amount of packet loss to users) of ALL torrent traffic right back down the IP address that is DOSing them. Now, who do you think would win?

    have you tried deluge? it is almost as small as uTorrent, supports DHT and even looks somewhat similar. The only real drawback to Deluge is the file dialog ( at least in the version I have currently) requires you to go up one directory and then select the directory you wish to download into.

    If it uses COlinux it is a linux disk image that is mounted with the kernel running through the NT kernel as a service. It is a full X install that exports all data to the display ( a running windows port of an Xserver ). At least that is what I am assuming, I already set up colinux to do this on my laptop a while ago, using debian sarge when it first went to old_stable.

    Nope, not possible. you need to backup all data and use mkfs.$1 ( whatever other FS you want) on that partition. BUT maybe now some linux hacker will be motivated to write a non-destructive conversion tool, kind of like what MS did for FAT32 to NTFS.

    good god, THINK. even if 85% ethanol runs with 25ish percent less power than straight standard fuel all you would need to do is raise the compression up a small amount to regain that power. Think BIG truck, old engines ( pre mid 70's ) were un-turbo charged. You start adding turbos to the engines you gain 20-60% fuel efficiency AND have more power / faster power response.

    Try switching your user agent. The player comes up just fine with a spoofed useragent string in Linux/x86 mozilla browsers for me.

    Just gonna take a stab in the dark here but... have a free, easy to use windows client?

    Last time I tried to use a NFS client on windows was not a painless experience. That was 1-2 years ago though , so maybe something better has come along? If anyone has any suggestions for a client to try I would be happy hear them, I still have a few windows machines at home that if I could share through NFS I could nuke samba from my file server ( I only need clients for pulling data, directory sharing is not needed).

    The product that is being "tied" is osX, not "an operating system" but a SPECIFIC operating system. There is no free competition for buying osX, therefore what the parent poster said should hold true... and Apple should not be able to enforce that portion of their EULA.

    Ummm, don't know who modded this numbskull insightful. Photoshop makes shapes, circles squares ellipses.... just about ANY shape you can dream up with with the PEN TOOL THAT IS IS SPECIFICALLY USED FOR VECTOR GRAPHICS in Photoshop...

    that said though some of the newer wine builds you have a choice of bugs wacom pressure sensitivity BUT your background / forground colors are switched ( background on pen tip, foreground on eraser) OR you can switch the X recognition of your pentip and erasor BUT lose pressure sensitivity...

    No fucking WAY.

    As to the rest of your drivel, almost everything can be done from the GUI nowadays. The CLI is just much simpler and FASTER.

    E.G. converting files, you either can hope that the developers coded the GUI app to do batch conversions OR you can make an extremely simple BASH script to do it for you.

    The main problem with your argument is that NDISWRAPPER _WILL_ run just fine without the proprietary binary blobs. NDISWRAPPER will load into the kernel just fine without using ANY windows driver ( your hardware would still be useless without the drivers) bit the GPL portion of the module does NOT require ANY non-GPL'd code to run itself.

    There is no part of the GPL that says your code must be complete ( or even useful)

    I'm certainly no defender of the music industry, but the reality of the matter is that a very significant slice of the population, who would otherwise buy CDs, is perfectly happy with downloaded MP3s.

    There is a fallacy in your statement. Probably 90% of people who download a song WOULD NOT BUY IT ANYWAYS.
    The recording industry doesn't want that to come to light since it would really cut down on their ridiculous claims of "loss". How can they "lose" a sale that would never have happened?
