"Tyranny of the majority" is actually just democracy :

The reason is simply : a majority is made out of many people , who are all a minority in some way .
Because the majority is so big , it will represent all these minorities , and result in a globally balanced view on things.

For example : it's not because you are a minority because of your race , that you can't be part of a majority of people who like football ( just an example ).

So any legislation that involves football , you are part of the majority , and so you will have impact ( to the detriment of the people that don't like football ).

However , this 'unlimited' , is not really unlimited : you have a gauge which shows you how much you use in comparison with other users . If you download to much , telenet will charge you extra.

But with unlimited , it's impossible to see the exactly how much you downloaded this month ( something you can see with the other packages ) , which means you never know how you can actually download ( i solved that by installing a bandwidth meter myself )

What's abuse for 1 person , might seems legitimate for others ( certainly in politics ).

The outrage against the banning of posts containing the HDTV key , shows this clearly .

Still , to solve this problem , there is a simple solution : start your own brigade , which diggs up everything the other brigade buries .

"Tell me how someone giving their own code the BSD license makes them money that doing under the GPL doesn't?"

Simple : say there is GPL'ed software that allows you to use an editor in html ( like CKEditor ) .
Now , say that i create blogging software , and sell this to users , and i want to add this editor to it , so users can easily add content for their blogs.

To make it work correctly , i rewrite some aspects of the editor , so that it works perfectly.
If i do want to sell my product , in this case GPL requires me to publish the changes i made to the editor.

My competitors could then use the code i wrote , thus gaining an advantage on me ( as it didn't cost them anything , but it did cost me).

With BSD license , i don't have to publish the changes that i made to it , so i don't have the disadvantage.

From a user perspective , GPL is better , as it ensures changes to the code are also free
From a business perspective , BSD is better , as it allows you to keep your changes hidden from the competition.

This is the reason many GPL projects also allow you to purchase a BSD license.
