Vaginal wrench is the oldest tool known to wo/mankind. Damned if we are going to get rid of that!
I loved the idea of (washing) machines you could have sex with, in an SF story I read long time ago. The technology is not good enough yet. But maybe we are getting there eventually. That is what I call progress.
Do Brits still sell Playboy only from the top shelf, in the paper bag with only a title visible? I bought an issue just to see what the fuss is about - they even bothered to censor it - some pages were cut! I thought then - wow better get out of the isle - when they have to do such things to stop perverts there from uncontrollable indulgence then it is really dangerous there. Give them all these sex dolls fast or else something bad may happen.
There is not even a hint of an indication that GP is bitter but assuming so - what is wrong with being bitter? You have anything against being biter? Maybe a person has a reason? There are huge enough numbers of bitches out there to make hell of a life for a certain number of men. The opposite is true too. Nature made us wanting company or else we would not procreate as successful as we do. That is a trick. It made us exposed to the other sex or in some confused cases to the same (from nature and species perspective it is just a failed try). Socializing is not always nice experience. Hence some people are bitter.
That we are jumpy is because we see news almost every day where different groups, claiming Islam as guidance, do things to other people and their environment that make them savages to most of us. Then the integration of the Muslims from ME is also an issue as we can see. What you wrote however is just plain wrong. Kid wanted to show off and probably did not even think of the different types of contexts that one can see his activity at. What was his motivation matters now. He clearly did not bring a bomb but it could be just a test before real action. This does not make him a terrorist just yet. If no further evidence of wrongdoing is found then he should be let go and police as well as school should apologize to him, publicly as the thing is public now. That is what I would expect to happen. Instead we have great circus again: some claim:"liberty for all, at all circumstances", some claim "terrorist!" - he should be sent to Gitmo. Life is a little bit more complex than this.
I suppose they are blathering on about that because the work to achieve that was lengthy and hard. There is also this other thing - there will be no one announcement "we have AI" as that if ever achieved will be a very complex thing as is our own consciousness etc. We will have partial results and achievements which will along the way produce something that can talk to me better that my neighbours and my wife can (this is not such a feat as you may think) etc.
At some point somebody will produce cleaning robot that can clean up my desk (without causing any erasure disaster), do the dishes including preparation, putting into dishwasher, sorting and distributing the stuff afterwards, then a robotic cleaning lady that can do the floors and pack the washing machine with my socks and sort the dried outstuff etc. and an automatic secretary that can do many things (by which I mean it can do many things not like this sorry excuse for secretary the apple among others show from time to time). And at some point I will get a cleaning lady with sexy metallic body, soft in some and firm in other places, with friendly character, ability to do garden too and a nice blow job facility as well as library of humankind (or in lack of license at least library of congress) and ability to discuss this. At this point I'd say we got it. I also hope that at this time I will be one of the owners not the 99% of pleb.
Short version: on the way to singularity associated with AI and/or skynet event we will pass many many 'we have AI' milestones. All of them justified in their own little or big way. The last announcement we i.e.humans will most likely not get.
I think you worry too much. I am sure your money will be transferred somewhere. Transfer may take place to another destination and with another amount than intended tho. Just make sure your account is covered if you dislike overdraft surcharges and additional fees.
I do not think that can save you from them. After all if there are only few refuseniks like you then it should be rather easy to find and trace them. OC that makes it more difficult but it is then still possible to trace you by virtue of some aspects of you being invisible whiling your warm body still being where you are. So what can be done besides bitching here about this?
Just had a discussion with my boss about these things humanity sends out there in relation to the apparent pile of faulty crap that people are confronted with on earth. Our space probes' softwares are shockingly successful.when one looks at the robustness and stability of these things. I wonder what sort of lesson this can give us beyond the one about pile of money thrown on it.
I would give you funny mod point but I cannot really decide whether you are not serious - the chances are that you are, we are after all surrounded by liberals and communists and the world is going to end if we do not do anything...
OC you can claim that because of complexity of issues concerned and general idiocy of humans involved (all of us?) the privacy is lost - I can even agree about such perception of current version of reality but not even this has to stay the way it is and however slim the chance to change there is, it does exist.
But that is not even what you argued. Yes the privacy is an illusion, so are also the ownership rights on parcels of ground and on IP. These things do not really exist beyond a book of law or our sometimes implicit agreement for them to be there. It is the same as the locks for your car, bicycle or home - they offer no real protection only slow down the intruder but not by much. They also provide a sign of burglary if they are broken open.
That is how it works dude. If you have ever tried to describe taste to another person you could understand what the problem is. Besides it becomes less ambiguous when trained people talk with each other - they do seem to travel on the same speed, platform and can exchange opinions about beverages that have some meaning to each other. Mortals like us should just concentrate on drinking. Some of use after gaining some experience can start distinguishing differences in descriptions also with a taste buds but the rest recognizes the taste by looking at the receipt. They still should have done spectral analysis just to see what differences in aging processes are.
I suppose this is one of the few cases where ego size is justified because of the low air pressures at the heights his technical achievements brought him into.
It does not look like a required feature which raises the question: how do you test feature that apparently was hidden and most likely not required? If this was just a mockup of something then surely as hell it should have been removed in production. Maybe the yellow sticker fell from the task board? Or maybe scrum master had a bad day and told the concerned tester to sod off and stop disturbing the team? Or maybe they thought about fixing it later when there is time?
I have seen it all happening, more than once.... Some people never learn. As this affects many products apparently then this most likely is a systemic problem not an accident.
Chances are that if we go down the hill this way there will be no electricity and pr0n to go by even in locations where fiber were available before collapse. The reason for this, among other things, may be that collapse tend to be very unpleasant and violent thing. The other important one - once we run out of fuel, we may have problems with everything else not only energy. Good that this is not the only possible scenario. Nuclear or biological warfare being also available I'd say we run out of luck before we run out of fuel. Just think of this: with technology ever more powerful and ever cheaper and this many people on earth we have more idiots with more powerful means of killing and maiming others in the name of whatever. My preferred scenario however is that some of us at least, including my kids, will jump right trough the next bottleneck into the world of starship enterprise.
You mean status and aesthetic considerations have any importance in case of a means of transportation?
I could agree with aesthetics being important but then we are all different and have different tastes which sort of makes a generally well received vehicle a futile endeavor. Besides I have impression that the reason people prefer one car over the other has nothing to do with aesthetics but rather the status. In other words - can you explain how does Tesla extends your dick better than anything else?
This is so appalling. I am deeply shocked - all these poor men that were lied to. I am still hesitating tho whether it is good that they were communicating with bots instead of some indian guy sitting in a sweatshop.
actually people killed people on any imaginable ground or without one so this cannot be an argument for anything.
Mass killing people for a reason has been done too and the reasons have been plenty religious, political, economic etc
Humans mass kill humans because they 'think' that such killings have some utility for them. Each particular party in a mass killing has to be fought and power taken off it, usually efforts to do so are bloody and difficult. In a sense an ideology as strong as to convince people to mass kill other people binds them together and makes them survive even harshest of punishments. Which is a problem for the rest of course. The only conclusion that I can draw from this is that society has to be prepared to act if a groups of such individuals emerge because it is inevitable that they do.
South Korea is possibly an example, one of the few, where imperialism (of both sides) was accompanied by good dose of pragmatism and great amount of luck. This is however not the usual result of US interventions. Germany and Japan are on this short list too - almost complete destruction was followed by great progress but I guess this is in big part also a way these societies were before anyway. They both did wrong and understood it afterward. Whenever the scene was not so clear US had messed up.
There were also examples where US military was used to satisfy explicit business needs if Smedley Butler were still around he could tell you something about that but then again if he lived in McCarthy era he would be revealed as a hidden commie and liberal or?
Corruption of US agents in 'introduction of democracy' and 'opening way to prosperity' in Iraq made a joke of the high moral ground that US wanted to have. We will never know for sure of course but chances are that US did a great disservice to people of Iraq and Syria by said corruption, associated lies etc. Were that not enough, genuine errors and plain incompetence and negligence helped the bloody mess to develop.
One thing that I cannot see trough is Ukraine. Both sides there are the same if looked at by not involved observer. The same corruption and incompetence which makes a question of US motives quite interesting - this clearly cannot be a case of informed, well meaning intervention as moral high ground does not really exists in Kiev. If so then it is either incompetence combined with naivety, evil conspiracy (NATO seems to be stronger already and some countries in the region are more willing to by US military HW now) or just accident. I'd actually preferred US to be involved in evil conspiracy here as a though of a global police force being so naive and/or incompetent is scary.
Independent on the motives of 'democracy' introducing troops, I would still run away if their arrival in my country were imminent. And to answer the question of imperialism - it certainly looks like it from aside. Pity your boys and girls and whole bunch of bystanders had to die in actions that look like imperial hegemony.

I like the idea that people think. How many FB users, do you think, will indulge in this laborious activity? More than 3?
You want to argue with Zuckerberg? I mean from all the sociopaths in the industry?

crowded is Shenzhou 11 going to be?
Fell for this twice while browsing the stories today.

open source is not a problem - unpaid intern that had to incorporate it into something else may be however.
