Is that why there are so many songs about California? Why the ideal of success is "loaded up the truck and moved to Beverly.. Hills that is."?
You will notice that the Fresh Prince and Jazzy Jeff did not move in with their auntie and uncle in Rolla, Missouri. When Tom Joad and his family left the Dust Bowl, they did not try to move to Canton, Ohio. Tony Bennett did not leave his heart in Des Moines. There is not a Led Zeppelin song about "Going to Indiana".
Brian Wilson did not sing about girls from Kentucky being, "the cutest girls in the world". You're totally jelly, dude. Face it.
Even the most New York of New York bands sang about "going out West where I belong".
People will never leave California no matter how much it costs, because...
...the weather is perfect and there's an ocean.
Don't undervalue the importance of living somewhere that's absolutely beautiful. There is a reason creative and innovative people have been rolling Westward for as long as we've been a nation.
Yes, emoji are for morons, and Slashdot should totally support emoji (and animated gifs). At this point, they might as well just say, "fuck it" and go balls to the wall.
The problem with blaming employers for hiring illegal (undocumented*) immigrants is that the U.S. government makes it impossible to actually verify if a potential hiree is in fact authorized to work in the U.S.
Yeah sure. That's the problem. When Trump was hiring illegals and paying them $4/hour he had no way of possibly knowing if they were here legally or not. The fact that they were willing to work for $4/hour and spoke no English wasn't any kind of clue.
So just to be clear, your argument is that we should do what Obama did - nothing - and let companies not only abuse undocumented workers, but continue to abuse the H1-B system too?
No, my argument is that we should just follow the example of our beloved President and just straight-up hire illegal immigrants and pay them $4/hr.
The plea is in-force, but the new judge that replaced the previous one because of a CoI demanded that the muller investigation produce the exculpatory evidence in the case that by law they were required to produce.
Nope. When the new judge took over the case on December 7, 2017, his clerk filed a standard Brady boilerplate order. It was later corrected with the section removed.
This whole story about "Flynn's new judge is going to exonerate him" was started by the right-wing Trumpist rag The Federalist. It was never true.
Those Russians that got indicted will never be tried because Russia won't extradite them.
They don't have to be tried. The indictments form the outline of conspiracy charges against people in the US who can be charged.
Now, there is no allegation in this indictment that any American was a knowing participant in this illegal activity.
Notice the part that says, "this indictment"? There have been new indictments coming every few days now. New guilty pleas. New Trump officials (and former Trump officials) cooperating with Mueller.
Every time there are new indictments, the alt-right hollers, "IS THAT ALL HE HAS?" as if the investigation was over. The investigation is going to go on for a long time and the Russian indictments create a shield around Mueller, protecting him from Trump firing him. The shit has barely started hitting the fan, and it's fun watching you all rationalizing and minimizing and pretending it's not happening. Oh, it's happening all right, and when it's over there will be a smoking crater where the Trumpublicans used to be.
Manafort's conviction has nothing to do with Trump.
Manafort hasn't been convicted yet, and the indictment unsealed this week have a lot to do with Trump. Manafort was in deep in debt to some very dangerous Russians and tried to help them in their war with the Ukraine while he was Trump's campaign manager. And THEN he had the RNC change their party platform making it more friendly to Russia. And then had his flunky Rick Gates commit bank fraud to try to get out from under.
So, two possibilities: either 1) Trump had to know all this was going on, or 2) Trump had no clue about the guy he hired to chair his campaign and that's even worse because those are the kinds of useful idiots the Russians love to cultivate.
I realize you guys will defend Trump to the last breath, because if he goes down, it shakes your entire worldview. But Trump is already the administration with the most indictments and convictions and officials resigning in disgrace in history. He's crooked and he's losing his mojo.
Flynn's sentencing date was cancelled and now his guily plea is being withdrawn
Neither of those things is true. Flynn's guilty plea is still there and in force, and the new judge on the Flynn case has clarified his request and completely debunked the news that turned up in the alt-right media last week.
but even you lot can't honestly think that the NRA and/or republicans are opposed to all gun free zones in principle...
Well, we've learned that the NRA and/or Republicans are opposed to gun free zones unless it's their own cowardly asses on the line.
Gun-free zones are not for schoolchildren. They're not for churches, shopping malls or Chuck E Cheese. Gun free zones are for protecting right-wing cowards.
Oh! somewhere there's a campus town where they drum and chant all night. They protest for the rain forest, and demand the caribou’s rights. And somewhere bongs are being passed, and somewhere radicals shout; But there is no joy at Old State U -- Pope Ratzo has Wiped Out!
Those who support Wikileaks argue that the public has an interest in knowing what their government does in their name.
Wikileaks most famous leaks have been of stolen private property. So, no.
Do you believe the public has a similar right to know who is "totally gay", as Gawker put it?
If someone is using their considerable money and power to support an anti-gay political agenda, then yes. the fact that Peter Thiel is gay is of public interest.

Considering Stanford is ranked either #1, 2 or 3 in the nation, can you explain how that could be true?
I understand that there is tremendous jealousy toward California, but don't start making stuff up just so you can feel better about it.

Just follow this guy's example and skip the visa altogether:

No, they are not "all for process crimes". Money laundering is not a process crime. Bank fraud is not a process crime.
Do you know another way to describe a "process crime"? A crime.

The indictments of the 16 Russian people and organizations are exactly about collusion. They were all about building a conspiracy case.
I'm old enough to remember when Republicans said, "There were crimes committed, but President Nixon knew nothing about it!"
Twenty-two indictments so far. Five convictions, and counting.
Over 100 Trump officials who have been unable to pass FBI background checks, including the President's son-in-law.
It took over 2 years for the Watergate investigation to nail Nixon. Special Prosecutor Mueller's been at it only 10 months.
Look, we know it's you. Don't play. I appreciate the time it took you to paste my name into the poem.

My fans write poems for me.
No, they're nothing like the NRA then. They are actual clubs for gun enthusiasts not right-wing superPACs for gun fetishists and school shooters.
Interesting story about GOProud.

Go steal some government property and then tell the judge that it's OK because it's public property. See how that works out for you.
Also, Wikileaks doesn't only post stolen public property. Most of what they're famous for was actually private property.
The only civil right Peter Thiel cares about is his right to inject himself with the blood of teenage boys..

And no, that story has not been debunked.

You mean like Wikileaks?
There are other organizations that will track shooting scores without supporting school massacres.
USPSA and Orion are two that come to mind.
