You've got to be certifiably retarded to think it's anything like an Ipad. To begin with, the difference between the 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratio is a dead give away. Not to mention the Gal Tab's have the giant word "Samsung" on the bezel (or the back) and the fact that the Android lock screen in Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwitch and Jelly Bean looks radically different to IOS.

I'd be willing to bet Google will simply tell them to fob off (in nice terms), so they'll have to attempt to sue the developers individually who are in many jurisdictions which have different laws. In some countries like Australia, the courts would tear this company a new one for just trying this kind of bollocks.

They wont sue because it's an extortion racket and they picked Apple because they thought Apple would cave in and pay them (what Apple would consider) a small amount (but Apple didn't).

AT&T used to not allow that, but once people started trying to download Amazon's app store and got a ton of flak over it. AT&T quickly gave people the ability to do so.

They are very far from their last legs. They are not Nokia.

HTC has made a few decisions over the last year that has put them offside with consumers. Locked bootloaders, sense becoming more bloated, the elimination of the Z series (keyboard phones) and slow updates[1] have made them less desirable. HTC did very well with the Desire range of phones putting them into the hands and minds of average consumers. Due to the problems mentioned above and lacklustre new offerings (until the One line) they have lost the initiative to Samsung and Sony. The lack of a low end phone that competes with the LG Optimus Spirt and Samsung Galaxy Ace has also hurt them.

But HTC is still strong and the writing is far from the wall. What HTC needs to do is:
    1. Bootloaders, unlock them.
    2. Update fast, update often.
    3. Have a series of phones with a common template (such as the Desire/Desire HD/Desire Z).

Remember that we are ignoring the fact both the SGS3 and the Iphone had a multiude of SKU's with different HW configurations, both phones had CDMA and GSM versions as well as various memory sizes and colour options based off the same template, so we are counting all SKU's under the SGS3 and Iphone 4S branding. I was waiting for it. The bad excuse that fanboys use to convince themselves this isn't happening. The different SGS 3 devices are akin to the fact Apple sells Iphones with Samsung, LG or Sharp screens, or the fact they have a 16, 32 or 64 GB SKU or do you honestly think there is no hardware difference between the Sprint/Verizon CDMA Iphones and the GSM Iphones? The SGS3 outsold the Iphone, you need to deal with it.

Or more important, who makes more profit overall. I think Apple is still king on that one.

You're right that this is important to a lot of people, but not for the reason you think. The fact that Apple is making more profit than Samsung per unit means that by buying a Samsung, I will likely get a much better deal.
