You've never actually used Win7 on a netbook, slow as a double amputee retarded kid stuck in quicksand. Hell, I've got a C2D E6600, 4 GB of RAM and Win7 struggles at times. Cant have too many FFX windows open as well as a virtual machine. Strange thing is the machine was fine doing the same thing under XP until the orders came down from up high that we were moving to Win7. The corporations aren't "too powerful" in their own right; they simply have too much influence over the government,

You know this statement contradicts itself.

Corporations that are able to influence governments without question have without a doubt grown too powerful in their own rights.

One is to reduce the power of governments, ????? which simultaneously limits the power available for corporations to influence

    There, fixed that for you.

So, the solution to an organisation that has grown too powerful is to limit the power of largest opposing faction. This somehow does not create a power vacuum which is not immediately filled by the largest opposing force (the corporations). What colour is the sky on your planet.

Public debt and high taxes are both very real problems

Nope, unrestrained public debt is a symptom of two reckless wars. High taxation is the only real way to fix that. I said when the Iraqi invasion began that eventually the American people will have to pay for the war in taxes (just as every nation does, when they go to war, wars are very expensive and do not have a good ROI) it just took longer then I expected.

which is also a goal of the "Tea Party".

The goal of the Tea Party is to deliver votes to the Republican party without voters realising they are doing it. The Tea Party really is the "I cant believe it's not the Republican party", it's a classic PR coup, re-brand and people forget the problems. In Australia we are quite familiar with this system, the Nationals (Australian National Party) sole purpose these days is to bring the extremist right (nationalist) vote under the power of the more moderate Liberal party (conservatives), but we see through it and refer to the whole sordid mess as "the Coalition". The Tea Party is being used to lure those people who dont want to vote Republican, to vote Republican via proxy and not feel like they are voting Republican.

The Tea Party will never accomplish its stated goals because they are unrealistic and merely a feel good smokescreen.

What makes Alcohol such a big killer is driving or operating machinery whilst impaired (drunk), to borrow one from the gun nuts, drinking does not kill people, driving drunk does.

As far as addictiveness goes, Alcohol is only as addictive as gambling (meaning it's entirely psychological) but unlike compulsive gambling, alcoholism leaves fairly signs.

Also, the word Socialist can be used in multiple contexts (not just Fiscal Socialism (communism) as Americans assume) especially in foreign languages. The hatred between 30's Fascists and Communists was legendary, German Communists were the first group rounded up and executed by Hitler & co (even before Jews and Roma). We doing this now? Last time I checked, there are literally hundreds of thousands of privately owned businesses, and you can't name me a single solitary industry which government controls every aspect of it, including marketing, distribution, R&D, and everything else (which is the definition of socialism.)

    No it isn't.

That is the definition of communism, which is socialist but socialism isn't communism.

I dislike how most Americans cant separate social policy from fiscal policy. Socialism in a social context is about giving the worker (or peasantry) more power over their own destiny (as Marx put it, to own the means of production). This is about workers deciding how society is run, it's quite compatible with democracy (probably more so then capitalism) and the free market.

Fiscally it's as you describe, state controls. State run economies are not restricted to Communism, Fascism also installs a lot of state control into industry, the critical difference is that Communism does not permit the industry leaders to reap the benefits (make large profits) where as Fascism does.

Now a few Nordic nations have very socialist "social" policies such as health care, transportation and so forth but they also have a thriving free market where one is free to make as much profit as they are able to within the law. Personally I tend to favour slightly socialist social policies (public health care and education) and slightly capitalist (conservative) fiscal policies, this ensures that our society moves forward (sorry Gillard haters, but we really have stagnated over the last 15 years) but is also sustainable economically. Fortunately both Australian parties are fiscally conservative, but only one is socially progressive, the other is socially conservative.

Pure capitalism is just as flawed as pure communism, both lead to a concentration of power and the inevitable abuse of that power, this does not make socialism or free market capitalism bad, it just makes the extremes of both bad.

Anti-virus/malware is not preventative, it's reactive meaning it's not going to prevent you from getting viruses or malware, it will only to let you know that it's detected one. 2. They dont work (mostly). No AV package can detect new 0-day vulnerabilities or viruses that do not fit their pre-existing definitions. Further more they will not stop the user from installing anything harmful, no OS can, not even Apple's walled garden. Anti-virus/malware is only meant to protect you from drive by attacks, not deliberate user initiated infections.

The Beeb does not print crap and try to create controversy like the Daily Mail and has quite a few openly anti-EU presenters (Hammond, May and Clarkson just to name a few) but then again Top Gear isn't advertised as news either.

But the real issue is when they stations outright lie, Fox and to a lesser extent the Daily Mail deliberately print/broadcast "non-truths", the only difference is the Daily Mail is not permitted to do it legally (doesn't stop them though).
