Intel still has the FSB and that will get the way of the making the chips faster and add more IO. Havening 2 dual-cores linked by a fsb bus will get in the way even faster as the speed of the cpu gets higher. And a 4 cpu quad-core sever will likely choke up at the chipset to ram link as well as the chipset to chipset link.
Also intels dael quad-core workstation and the V8 only haves has the pci-e lanes for 1 x16 slot and the 8 other ones are used for the chipset to chipset link amd based ones will blow it away even more so with KL8 cpus. Right now an 2 cpu amd board has 4 pci-e x16 slots running at x16 x8 x16 x8 with 2 x4 lanes left over + each cpu can have a HTX slot or other HT based chip hook up to it.
quad FSB machines may still choke up at the chipset with all of the cpus needing the use the same link to get to ram.
Even if the K8L is %1-%5 faster it still kills Intel in sever / workstation chip sets in terms of number of pci-e lanes and Intel has no to way to better a high-end duel cpu quad-core amd KL8 system. as there 2 cpu system uses FB-DIMMs and only has 20-22 pci-e lanes with no sli.
If you are going to the make the chips smaller how hard is it to come out with a true quad-core? Havening 2 duel-cores linked by a fsb bus will get in the way even faster as the speed of the cpu gets higher. How long before windows vista's SUPER DRM is banded?
Intel's severs chip sets still suck and the amd ones are much better. NFORCE pro kicks Intel's a** Intel need more pci-e lanes in the chip set and in a 4 way sever havening the ram controller in the cpus is a big boost over have all the cpus needs to go though the chip set add a lot of l2 can only go so far.
That less than $500 system is unlikely to run vista fully and may be very slow at it. So that may make people install xp on it and get the key form online, there older systems, work, and so on.
and apple done not have a good desktop that is not a AIO. The mini has a POS gma 950 that a x16 video card can beat by x10 while running at x1 speed and it uses system ram. It uses laptop parts as well.
The macpro costs are to high and FB-dimms are over kill for the desktop.
Apple needs a real desktop that uses desktop hardware. The i-macs use laptop parts as well.

Visual Pinball needs to be updated for multiprocessor system and you only need to have Visual Pinball on one cpu and vpinmame on an other one.
But right now there is only one game that needs that much power and the next one is a few months away form being unlocked.

That is still better the have the cpu use the same bus and chip set that is also used by data and other cpus.

I am talking about amd's up coming single cpu quad-cores
so all some needs is virus that tells the system that it is a multimedia app while it uploads all of your data.

In the sever market the power consumption of the FB-DIMM's are alot higher then ECC DDR 2

what a way to teat workers
There ATM's if they where to post the atm key then they may go down fast.
ActiveX is pervasive in the Korean webspace.
They should move to something that work in linux, mac os, and windows.
A HTX slot video card is better.
Most of the Chicago toll roads are from the pre interstate days and If you have a I-pass or EZ-pass you can pay the toll at high speed

autocad may use DirectInput for drawing pads and all windows apps now days have some sounds in them.
Thats $2000-3000 on top of your other costs
autocad and other non game apps use 3d also there are alot of non 3d games out there.
Visual Pinball is better as it can use plugins like
vpinmame that lets you play real pinball games with the real game roms.
