I just recieved my Vista beta 2 DVD package today and installed it on a test machine at our shop: p4 with a gig of ram, geforce 6800, Intel chipset.

To be honest I am surprised at how smoothly the install went. only device not found was my onboard sound that I was able to install easily from the mobo driver disk. After disabling some of the eye candy I found annoying and installing the apps we use the most, I found it to be a completely useable Windows machine and nothing like the horror stories I have read here. I know this was just a brief test on some pretty standard hardware but I guess I expected alot worse. Tonight I will try the x64 install on a AMD 64 x2. I had more problems finding a marval gig lan driver after installing solaris 10, "I know apples and oranges". so far I think this might make a nice little wintendo.

I run a small computer shop also. They pay us to assess their needs then choose the hardware accordingly. And since we make our bread and better on the service side we don't push hardware on people that don't need it or will not need it for the lifespan of the product. Of course building high end machines is alot less boring.

Sure the government should protect us from ourselves and hold our hand through every life decision. They should take away any choices and freedoms that could possible cause any harm to the weakest of society. prohibition worked so well I cant understand why its not around today and the war on drugs is such a fantastic success that I believe we should expand the government's involvement in every citizen's life. No one is more qualified to raise our children and direct our lives for we are just silly sheep completely unable to make any healthy decision. -- "A mind is a terrible thing to taste."
