Bicyclist that don't obey the law piss me off, but if they're obeying, you've got no complaint, sorry.

I drove to lunch on the exact road I was thinking about, and there was a cyclist in the road at lunch. Technically, he's obeying the law, but I'll complain just as loudly as you might when a car passes him within inches at 40mph relative speed. He was a traffic hazard and a nuisance. I'm glad he wore a neon orange bandanna on his head so he was more visible, but just ten yards to his left was a perfectly safe and UNUSED sidewalk. No Pedestrians, and NO CARS.

  2. Re:About an Autobahn lane projector ? on Bike Projector Makes Lane For Rider · · Score: 1

The LAW states that the bike has a right to the whole lane from the INSIDE of the white line to the yellow line.

The LAW needs to change. It was almost certainly written back when cars drove at 15-20 mph standard. In my city, we have cyclists riding in the middle of roads with multiple lanes where the speed limit is 45, with hidden curves/dips. The commonly accepted speed (that police drive at) on that road is 50-55. There's an unused sidewalk right next to the street, and that's where cyclists should be riding. "Pedestrian versus cyclist" is a smaller difference compared to "car versus cyclist".

But bikes are the worst because they have that high and mighty moral swagger. "I'm just exercising and saving the environment." Yeah... and wasting my time, fucker.

The best part is by making a line of slow moving cars behind them, bicyclists reduce the fuel efficiency of those cars, so the environment doesn't factor unless they bike in a way to allow cars to pass them. And cyclists _always_ are slowing down at least one car on busy roads.

*everyone* was screaming about the oil companies, OPEC, and cutting all gas taxes to try to make gas more affordable.

People grumbled at the water coolers, and modified their fuel consumption behaviors. Granted, some of those behavior modifications were: "I have to quit my job because driving is too expensive" (I wonder how much high fuel costs contributed to our current economic woes). But, I didn't see anyone scream in person or on television. There was nothing close to a bloody riot, fuel rationing, or anything really bad.

Fixed that for you. The majority of people in the country don't want ubiquitous GPS tracking, but the majority in Congress right now thinks it's a great idea for everyone (government vehicles will somehow be exempt). Amongst the small portion of truly squeaky clean people, only an even smaller portion think they'd love to live in a world where BMV/DMV employees can abuse a system to follow their every move.

The power generated might be enough to run one headlight. But what would really be interesting is capturing some of the speed energy to help charge the battery. But with using wind.

I'll do you one better. Attach a sail to the car so that almost all of the "speed" energy is harvested. Fans harvesting electricity from the "wind" generated by the engine propelling the car is less efficient than the engine just making the electricity.

Posner, you're #*%%#@ stupid. You may be a legal genius, but please rely on technical advisors before thinking you know anything about technology.
Linking to something on the web is the exact equivalent to saying "Hey, look at that over there!" in meatspace. If people want to prevent someone from pointing at their FOO in meatspace, they make a wall and allow only the people the want in (either charging admission or inviting just their friends). Sometimes they even restrict cameras (although restricting printscreen on a https site can't happen). What gets me tickled about this is that the web in its current incarnation has had 15 years of fame (companies started regularly advertising websites in television commercials in 1994-1996). You'd think that the mentally competent among us would understand some of its basic concepts by now.
