Taiwan is not just as bad as the PRC, and I'll use your own statements to prove it.
First, you say that views vary in Taiwan depending on which party gets elected. At least there's multiple parties in Taiwan. Beijing has a one party system. It's either the commie way or the highway (read: death and sale of internal organs to wealthy westerners)
Then you say they would have shot Chen for having an affair. Is this respect for human rights? Do you honestly think it's a good idea to violently kill infidels?
Then you say they would be like the Confederate States of America to let Taiwan become independent. What were your comrades in Beijing doing during the 80's when Taiwan was reforming? (Hint: Tiananmen Square) Human rights violations by the KMT are history. The CCP is killing dissenters in Tibet today.
And assuming I never lived in China...wow. If you're right and Taiwan is really the rightful property of China then I have probably lived there longer than you.
If Tibet and the other western provinces break away then so will Taiwan, parts of Manchuria and then maybe Macao and Hong Kong. They don't want their population to get into 'dangerous and subversive' ideas like independence, human rights or democratic government.
"The more you tighten your grip, Mr. Hu, the more star systems, I mean provinces, will slip through your fingers."
Maybe you should read the Book of Mormon sometime instead of websites that 'sum it up' for you. The Liahona just told them where to go and gave instruction, none of which involved battle strategy.
Magnetic underwear? I'm wearing the same type of underwear Mitt wears and I don't have a problem with small metallic objects following me around. Are you just mad because the garment center wouldn't sell you a pair?
If the bloggers won't be treated like professionals, we shouldn't expect them to act like professionals.
Griping about the TV's being shut off is like sitting in late 18th century England and complaining about the Boston Tea Party. I say this guy's a real American hero.
"If the 20 year veteran disappeared, the lights wouldn't turn on, the database would stop working, nobody would be able to get a new release out, it would start raining blood, cats and dogs would be living together and the company would go into crisis mood. But you wouldn't know about that, because you haven't experienced it..."
Maybe this hasn't occurred to you...We don't give a damn about the company because the company doesn't give a damn about us. I'm not saying they have to give a damn about us. They don't have to. If they did have to give a damn it would be socialism and that's not what I'm advocating here.
Many inexperienced IT workers start moonlighting when acquaintances from church, the bowling alley or the golf course want some service cheap. We figure out that by cutting out the middle men we can make as much money as the more experienced IT workers and charge less for our services than a big company can. When we get paid 2-10 times as much for an hour of work it's pretty easy to get disillusioned at work. There's the shortcut. Don't complain to us because we aren't dumb enough to put up with decades of mistreatment like your generation did.
The reason you think it needs exchange integration to 'play in the business sector' is that there are countless computer consulting firms spending ridiculous money to have M$ certifications and partnerships.
I used to work for a company that implemented microsoft servers, exchange, and even IIS regardless of the customer's actual needs. It's 'industry standard' to not let hardware control DHCP to these guys! You should see what happens when a server goes down after it's been set up the Microsoft way in a business network. Everything dies, including everybody's connection to the internet.
I think it's time to let Redmond know that we are not going to bend over and take it up the tailpipe on this one. I'd much rather see good integration with Google Aps before people waste time tinkering with Exchange integration.
Software support is the biggest problem right now.
Adobe Creative Suite 3 is keeping me on dual-boot right now but I'll put linux on every machine if Adobe releases a Linux version of their software.
I'm sure other people have their software they can't do without. A short list would be: -Photography software (GIMP is good...but photoshop is better still) -Design/Layout software -Financial Software -Kick butt 3D games (Half-life 2, Halo, Age of Empires, FEAR to name a few)
But we're in a catch 22 here. Software makers wont support Linux because the population is too small but the population wont grow until there is better software selection.
Yeah, you're right.
In fact Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, and other dictators of history agree.
What's going on in Iraq right now proves that a few yuppies with guns can
keep an unwanted government out of control.
If our government was to become tyrannical, it would be our only recourse.
Here's my one big gripe that nobody can explain about global warming:
If reducing greenhouse gases reduces global warming, shouldn't we be
seeing reduced global warming since the 1970's when governments all over
the world started efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions?
Nobody has ever explained this one to me....[bueller]anyone? anyone?[/bueller]
I created an online petition to try and get the RIAA to allow selling
the music as MP3's.
Pleas sign it!!

Buying DRM music is like paying somebody to paint their fence.
If you do it you support microsoft locking you into windows or apple locking you into iPod.
After all this it isn't your fence.
He was talking about what Chinese schools teach children, not what actually happened.

How about this?
