Shit yeah, they've really reinvented themselves by using a recycled plotline, recycled characters and having some surfer dude as the main character. After FF8 or maybe FF9, the games have all sort of blurred together in my mind, and I've lost track of how many they've even released.

Well, it was the same with Teamfortress. Everyone always wanted the same old shit, even when people could vote for many different maps. Those stupid fucks, instead of going to a 24/7 server, went to vote servers and voted for bases, 2fort5 or well6 so nobody could play anything interesting or different.

I'm sure a lot of people are going apeshit with excitement over this card, but in a year everyone will have forgotten about it, because the next big thing will have been released by then. The 7900 was released in March 2006, for fuck's sake, and now everyone is talking about the 8800. People don't even realise that they'll be able to use the 7900 for several years before it gets outdated. Then again, I'm so amazingly oldschool that I use 1024x768 with no AA or AF (=useless gimmicks), so what do I know. I have a X800 and it's still enough to run games without compromising graphics quality too much (except BF2142 because the engine was programmed by monkeys).

The desire to control your own destiny is about as basic of a human ambition as you can get.

That doesn't mean that democracy is the only form of government, and it isn't.

The fact that 15 million Iraqis defiantly braved some very real threats to get out and vote clearly shows that they do want democracy. I don't see how you could argue it any other way.

Yes, let's just ignore the Shia-Sunni war and the "insurgents." The US can't even trust the Iraqi police and military forces because people are only loyal to their branch of Islam or their clan or ethnic group or whatever. You have a theory which predicts democracy in Iraq, but theory is not the same thing as practise. In practise, Iraq is a total clusterfuck that will inevitably become just another Islamic shithole.

Smug? It's simply a fact that the desire for democracy is not some innate feature of human beings. It's strictly cultural, and some cultures don't have democracy the way we do. Sure, there are people in Iraq who want democracy at least on some level, but it's not enough. I mean, how do you explain Iraq's current situation? If they really wanted democracy, stablity and peace (in the Western sense), the country wouldn't be in its current state.

Democracy is not a part of Islamic culture, and every able-bodied Jihadist in the world wants to go to Iraq to fight the infidel occupiers. Then there's the endless war between Shia and Sunni Muslims. Trying to bring democracy to Iraq is nothing but a joke, except not really funny.

What part of "not interested" escapes you?

Went completely apeshit? Moderating is a case of clicking a button to say you disaprove of a comment. If you think that's "going completely apeshit", then you have a serious communication skills shortage.

Obviously someone had a kneejerk reaction and went "apeshit" by immediately modding me flamebait.

If giving a reason why you think something is "an epic debate", then a website where people (gasp) debate things is hardly the place for you.

Slashdot is ill-equipped for long debates and as I already told you, I am not fucking interested (this does not mean that I never ever ever ever debate anything, as you seem to claim).
