The 'Blue Screen of Death' is proprietary code? Someone should tell Microsoft. I think many software providers are impinging on M$ copyrights.

No, its even better. You are only allowed to hold the cash of an uncashed check for a period of time until before needs to be submitted to the appropriate state's Escheatable property system. You know those 'Unclaimed Property' websites...

A friend of mine wreaked havoc with an IT department. He noticed that IT was servicing the floor's shared laser printer because it kept spewing out random text on the pages. He immediately realized it was occurring whenever he turned on his Radio Shack air ionizer. This was placed right next to the laser printer. He toyed with IT for months.

My sister and I still have no idea how we survived childhood. My two year old sister got lost on a beach in Italy. I was told to stay put on the blanket as my parents searched for her for 2 hours. (I was 4). Also that same year I was in the animal tent of a circus. For 15 minutes my mother accompanied by a group of animal handlers where trying to coax me away from a baby elephant. It seems I slipped underneath the barrier and the mother elephant would not let anyone else near me or her baby. Especially as the rest of the crowd were shrieking in terror of the situation.

Yeah, you could probably get a developer for 66,000 grand but what do you use for a test environment. That could get expensive.

  7. Re:Mohammed eh? on Western Union Blocking Money Transfers to Arabs · · Score: 0

The Office of Foreign Assets Control in the US frowns upon sending money to people who are found on a SDN (Specially Designated Nationals) list. They will fine you large chunks of money if you do this without having some kind of controls in place. (Do not send money to Cuba or the Bank of Tehran). Some vendors have written software to 'Help' you do this but the problem is that the lists contain names and possible addresses that are old and useless. Does anyone know the middle eastern equivalent of John Smith? One software package I evaluated contained a rule that kicked out everyone that had Mohammed in the name regardless of the full name or address.

  8. Catch 22 on NH Man Arrested for Videotaping Police · · Score: 0

IANAL, but I would guess if they want to prosecute this man they will have to admit the video tape as evidence making it public record. If the police officer did misbehave it makes you wonder what the grounds of a civil lawsuit would be for the act itself. "My innocence by reason of insanity or self defense still means I will have to kill you..."
