large scale industry has large scale buildings so if the used solar on all of them, they would at least reduce their usage by a large margin. sometimes a reduction is good enough to save pots of money providing they aren't on those stupid guaranteed power usage contracts like Microsoft signed a while back, they had to power up loads of extra equipment to make sure they used the contracted amount so they didn;t get "fined" for using less than agreed.
"because if solar systems ever get cheap enough for large numbers of people to go off the grid, then as the remaining customers' bills rise,"
not necessarily, the power companies will have to find ways to create cheaper ways to generate/distribute power to remain competitive - isn't that the way the free market is supposed to work?
" but I don't think it's going to be practical for industry, which is a huge user of electricity."
the more they could produce themselves the more money they'd save. some industries have buildings with huge roofs and as a lot of the work happens during the day, the closer they get to free power during the day the better for them.
Why should Amazon get as much as 30% for doing pretty much fuck all? Their selling software is already in place so no added costs apart from updating the stock database, let Amazon get 15% and give the other 15% to the customer to lower prices.
you get the same problem with people using different versions of Office, we've had countless problems with users who have the older versions of Word etc not being able to read the newer formats of DOCs, not only that but different versions of Word can format the same document differently
" Not only are Windows machines far more numerous than Linux boxes" - while this is true, if the hackers could do the same to the linux servers that they can easily do to windows desktops, they'd probably get more money because they could hold a vast section of the internet to hostage, e.g. if they hacked Google/Facebook/Amazon etc servers rather than some individual windows desktops. Windows machines are just easy pickings
you'll have to explain that to me. how does systemd force you to use it? Doesn't init force you to use it if its the system that drives your machine. Is it not because of the distro you chose to install uses systemd? Or are you expecting a choice (like the menu in Grub) to choose between the two systems on how to start your machine?
i'm personally on the fence as i don't know enough about either but as long as my system runs i'm happy but i would like to know more about the real advantages/disadvantages of both before i fall off the fence. All is sounds too personal rather than technical at the moment.
any AC who posts like you is an asshole who contributes fuck all to a conversation and is a waste of space. shove your head down the toilet and flush to get all the shit out of it, repeat until the water is clear

1. check the bug report you posted to see if its fixed. seems a bit of a whinge about nothing though.
2. again, check the bug report you posted to see ifs been fixed. this is a real bug if its real. not experienced it myself
can you not install them on the east/west walls instead, creating a awning effect over the windows? They don;t have to be on the roof.

you could have posted the links you found......
" heat from the house melts roof snow which runs down to the colder overhang where it melts into ice."
you need to spend some money on improving the insulation in your roof / loft if heat is escaping to melt the snow
" I'd be worried that my roof rake would damage the solar panels."
use something softer on the end, you don't need anything like metal to dislodge snow.

Amazon 30% is taking the piss
perhaps stop subsidizing the fossil fuel industries too to make a level playing field
congress
what do you mix with the coke ingredients to get the liquid part?

"The trolls are why I come here. The trolls are why I come here." - you need to get out more
one other thing it doesn't mention is "how" they detected the numbers of "affected" systems out there
its PHP that's the problem not linux so i guess it could also affect other systems such as Windows

if that's the best you've got to offer, i suggest you do the same flush cycle
well, you should have stayed on 3.5 until 4 was feature complete for you.

it kinda sucks that AC comments get worse, more full of shit, and post from no real experience of the topic at hand
not sure i'd want to use a Jetboil on my cooker at home as a regular exercise. what's Jetboil like on an electric hob?
