in reality its just a few as usual but unfortunately they are loud as empty vessels tend to be, if it was really that many then RH et al would be doing something about it. Some are ignorant of systemd, some prefer to troll lies about it, some don't want to learn a new trick or two. A few stepped up and realised their dream and now the doubters and trolls have a place to go, we hope they'll all disappear to its forums, be happy and not bother the rest of us.

reading an indexed file is one reason and the power of journalctl makes life a lot easier than inventing and reinventing scripts to extract specific ranges of data across lots of individual log files, you can still pipe the output from journalctl to existing tools to do anything more specific not covered by it. its a time saver, the sort of things that programs are meant to do.

There is a config option to say forward to syslog but i think its almost redundant now as syslog/rsyslog extracts the journal data themselves (depending on the version you are using)

Who "implemented" it on CentOS 7? If its just related to CentOS 7 i would hazard a guess that its a bad implementation by the distro, i think most distros went through some early config teething problems.

its amazing how people will search for a bargain in the shops then complain that wages are lower - if people paid the real prices for things then better wages will be paid, driving down prices means driving down costs and the largest cost to an employer is the employee. And, the employment market is also a market so people will search out the bargains so its either market economy or a communist one.

thats also because of the threat, things were done to mitigate it, i.e. improved techniques, grow more higher yield crops hence GM plus loads of other improvements like greenhousing. Its good that it didn't come to pass but if nothing was done then maybe it would be a lot different result, personally i rather see things done and predictions fail. A bit like dumping fossil fuels and using renewable energy will, at minimum, improve the lives and health of people in cities and towns around the world and those living near fossil fuel generators
