Try finding out for yourself . You will find that most of the posts about what systemd can or can't do, are made from complete ignorance, lack of configuration knowledge or just plain trolling. Never trust a post until you've researched the issue yourself.
"And, for what benefit? None that I've ever seen. There is nothing that I can now do with my laptop that I couldn't do before. But, there are plenty of things that I can no longer do since the introduction of systemd."
well, if nothing has changed then they've done such a good job as you carried on as normal. What can you no longer do?
its targeted more at VMs etc that get torn down and restarted many times a day when speed is needed, its just a nice feature for the rest of us which you may or may not see as a benefit.
that has been the case for all distros, you were able to forward logs to syslog and rsyslog, it just needed a config. but now syslog does its own extraction from the journal.
There is a very small percentage of cases where systemd cannot make use of the scripts. You could check here to see if any of your problems are listed https://www.freedesktop.org/wi...
Logging is one of the fantastic bits about systemd, its far more comprehensive than anything else. Its just a matter of learning about the new features and tools.
that might only happen if they manage to create a battery where a single charge lasts a life time. It might physically last a life time regarding charge cycles but i doubt they've got it to hold its charge for much longer than current timescales
you've done your bit as stated in the changes you have made to your life style. unfortunately, it takes a long time for the majority to get with the program as they are happy in their ignorance.
possibly because it doesn't refer to additional changes like more storms, lots of changes to weather patterns due to things like the jetsteam moving about. (thats my guess as to why global warming is less accurate)
polluting old tech shouldn't get tax deductions, it should have become so efficient by now (how decades has it taken and many more decades will it take?) to stand on its own feet. Tax advantages should be only for new tech.
lots of people care, they are just stumped by the price of the still newish technology, but the price is dropping all the time and the market will widen out to more and more people as a result.
A test for you, drive your petrol/diesel vehicle in your garage, close the garage door, sit in the car with the windows open and turn on the engine and see how long it takes you to care. then do the same with an EV and see which is more pleasant an environment.
"Until the replacement technologies have years of study and years of proven reliability they should not be deployed." oh dear, another one who thinks green energy is all smoke and mirrors.
its only roundabout if you insist on still using syslog instead of journalctl output so thats your decision to make.
you need to practice your trolling as that was painfully bad.

read how to configure systemd, your knowledge is lacking. or just stop rewriting other posters ignorant statements

Oi !!! sit down and give your mouth a chance
perhaps you and the poster above should RTFM, its generally all down to configuration. this might help http://www.kibinlabs.com/syste...

whether a file is text or binary you still need a tool to read it so its a meaningless argument.

yawn... thats a dead troll argument

"systemd is a solution looking for a problem." - if that was the case, it would have withered and died.

how can we tell if you turned a profit? Do you employ as many people as him?

i'm talking about stuff like this, not normal running expenses/capital expenditure http://www.theguardian.com/env...

that was still the case unto the 1950's and it was smog (fog and smoke).
