You can still do that. stick to a distro version prior to their use of systemd, its no different to your KDE argument (how many actually still release KDE2.0 or are you "forced" to use KDE4?)

"Init should start tasks, possibly stick them into jails or containers, and set resource limitations." - you just added two extra jobs to init's KISS job so it won't just be "starting tasks", most of the "complaints" about systemd is that it does more than one thing but most of systemd is configurable as to what you want it to do or not do.

"Parallel startup" may not affect you but there are other admins that start and stop Linux instances all the time so faster boot time is important and thats who the design was primarily for, its just a side benefit for users for switch their systems on in the morning and off at night.

It does have a built in logger that stores in binary but you can still have rsyslog running as per normal if you wish to configure it so you are not stuck with binary only logging. The binary logging is on operation long before rsyslog can be started and long after it finishes and its more comprehensive. Thats the lovely bit about configuration

I think thats too simplistic. The problem is down to the books of the abrahamic religions (all 3 of them) being believed and revered and a relatively few nut jobs who will find sections in them to justify their ideas. (And blasphemy laws that make you think these "books" are true)
Its just like the extreme NRA supporters who see anarchy around every corner and need to carry a gun when they go shopping "because its their constitutional right" to do so. Just because something is written down somewhere doesn;t mean you "have to exercise it" as the majority of NRA supporters with common sense don't. Its all the same mindset where they get an idea in their head and fixate on it and cannot stop fixating plus the fact of the delusional religious dogma that says they are going to go to another better place when they die.
