im a web dev, working in front of a 28", i also believe that i should make every computer i acquire as strong as possible so i can play games, so i generally go for xp even for personal stuff. yet, this Eee thing made me think again - im thinking of acquiring one of these so that i can use it while traveling - something lightweight, reliable, hardworking, enough to do some collaboration stuff.

we need to invent schemes to protect companies from being undermined and destroyed by short term actions of greedy speculators. these not only destroy companies, but also undermine the quality of product/service they are supplying, and cause loss of vision that brought them to that point, and sometimes entirely remove company from existence. its damaging to the society because it damages the system. behold yahoo event now. some guy, totally irrelevant to the company, and even the sector just 1 months ago, jumped in and now trying to oust the people who not only have brought the company to these days, but also are pioneers of the internet era, important visionaries regardless of their successes or failures. whereas any i.t. company in the world would try to make those guys their ceo, some tycoon is trying to remove them.
hillary STILL hasnt conceded. shes STILL speaking of 'going on'. going on WHERE ? to the doom of her party ? to another bush term in the form of mccain ?
she just wants a post thats it. thats totally it. if she cant make it to president, well, she wants to make it to vp. if she cant make it to even vp, she wants the democrats to sink with her.
but what i really cant believe is how people, especially politicans and political commentators on tv are trying to find rationalizations to her action. they obviously cant believe that someone can choose to be stubborn out of pure sheer greed, and finding reasons and excuses. even commentators leaning to obama are doing that. i can understand it though - one thinks noone can do such a thing out of pure greed in front of millions of people watching. well, actually people can. and hillary did it.
and they care for nothing but more profits, even at the expense of destruction of the company, and vision it holds and service it provides. because they can just capitalize on their profits, sell out at the right time, and jump to another ship. that is how it is happening for a long time in wall street now.
its time we admit that current shareholder concept is not working very well. we are not in 17th century anymore, when a shareholder of a west indies expedition had to stick with his shares until make or break of the company on the return of the ships sent. people are just buying and dumping shares like cabbages.
what is he gonna do with military experience ffs ? top brass generals is for military experience. presidents are elected to reflect people's visions and wants.

I'm talking about the progression of our society (by that I mean the USA) from that of being personally responsible for ones' self into being entirely dependent (or exploiting) upon the government systems. again, something being new, untested, exploitable, doesnt mean that it is bad or it should be shunned.
social services and government assistance is something that is just 60 years old. it has to be perfected. just as we have perfected and developed every kind of innovation we had in the last 3000 years.
and dont forget, life is sometimes choosing the better of worse.

pluto was not able to defy reclassification as 'not planet' after a few hundred years.
