  15. Re:Sony = Treating customers like shit on The PlayStation 3 Launches In the U.S. · · Score: 1

How does hyping a product make them responsible for this?

its not hyping a product. it is hyping a product and very probably knowingly putting limited supply to stores many times over and over.

If they had more, or could produce more, don't you think they would do that. Demand right now is high. When demand is high you get your product out there and sell it as quickly as technically feasable.

No they are able to hand a ps3 to every kid in africa. Thats the kind of financial and manufacturing power they are. They are more than able to forecast what demand will be at what point and immediately meet it.

You should give a crap about what my background is, since it is industrial engineering, it is a combination of production/management systems/operations, and exactly stuff like this was going to be what i did for earning a wage if i did not turn to IT.

And with that background i am telling you again that sony is more than capable of handing out ps3s to anybody in united states, or russia, or china, if they set the mind to it. But they are not meeting the limited demand that surges in launch KNOWINGLY.

why ? simple - publicity - "people are fighting each other over ps3 - this thing has to be something good" - this is what it is.

With all the marketing, planning, operations divisions full of million $ yearly wage employees ? AND despite the preorders ? Forecasts ?

which is the value of n ? how come it always happen to be so that products never go near even the initial demand ?

watch out, i wont take any 'they do not know how many units will be sold so that they are cautious' crap, since im from an industrial engineering background, i can assure you that especially a big manufacturer like sony can churn out just enough units to meet the initial surge and then supply all the upcoming demand with 'just in time' production methods without ever incurring a noticeable inventory.
