  1. Re:Yeah, and that's all you need for great pics! on 8 MegaPixel Digital Sensor Unveiled · · Score: 1

Physics are such a hard thing for some to grasp. I sell digital cameras nearly all day and many customers want the "smallest" and "cutest" camera out there. Unfortuatenly, Sony has marketed a "T" series camera that up until a few months ago (most compact cameras are its size at this point) had a surprisingly small body. But this was because the lens was inset into the camera and about the size of a dime, if not a little larger.

I almost scream everytime someone asks me why the camera won't take a good pictures indoors. I dunno, can you see well when you have your eye half closed?

The point is, a sensor this size is definitely useless to any professional and most consumers will be amazed with how worse grainy there pictures will be. I have no clue how they plan to gather enough light for an 8MP sensor that size to take a decent enough photo AND be realitively noise free. But chances are they won't bother.

"But I do have evidence! You have to believe me! The gov'ment founded me out and is watching me like a hawk! They have men in black suits with wired heads watching me 24/7!"

How did this story get on Slashdot? The fact this guy found out many Windows machines in NASA were ripe for the picking doesn't surprise me. The fact people are actually willing to interview him with a straight face does.

  3. Awesome! on Would You Wear Video Glasses? · · Score: 1

I've been actually dilligently waiting for this kind of technology to come into the mainstream for good. I want to get rid of my giant monitor and equally large computer tower all in one hull. I'd replace the tower with probably a Damn Small Linux box and the monitor with a 'Personal Video Display.'

Its just like "Snow Crash!" YAY!

I always like reading what Dvorak has to say. I'm not sure how he became a pundit, but its always nice to see someone with enough gas to jab at various industry ideas--as poorly thought out as they may be.

This piece, however, is a "no duh" item. The computer industry by-in-large has run out of innovative ideas. Now we're polishing the status quo with pretty user interfaces.

I knew Starbucks was up to evil! Combine their tasty caffiene drinks and the annoyingly smooth music they play and it turns everyone into yuppies!
