Yes - but that's kewl - I bet if you list some of the stuff you liked, I'll find something that I did not. But to tell you the truth I did not pay much attention to the plot anyways. It's more of gravity gun and kill saw action that caught my attention.

Amen to that - I am a Linux n00b - and until today was wondering why the @#$%^! my ATI 3D support allofthe sudden stopped working. I was indeed very happy to finally see some 3D support for the screensavers :)
God damn you Linux - end session and boot up to windows - ez life.

This is one of the things that stops me from getting rid of Win boot on my PC. (and poor support for ATI TV card, and wireless).... groan...

Oh oh oh - also, set up 2 emaul addresses, one for personal use, this address you can use for filling out kiddie porn site forms, dodgy loan applications and Best Buy rewards programs. Second address for your more important ventures. But I am sure many of us already do it.

What don't people understand about not following the links in the emauls? It is a basic rule and will safeguard you from any type of email phishing scam (please provide other examples). No receipts, nothing of that nature is needed. Any respectable financial institution will not ask for your secure information by means of open emaul message. Any type of informtaion update is done once the user in the secure environment or by the phone (another issue).

I think we need to concentrate on educating users who may not posses good experience with the internet use (my 'rents). I am more worried about fat-fingering the URL, then receiving spam/phish message - block it with filter or hit delete button repeatedly.

There was another suggestion on this thread to try use phish link and flood phish servers with bogus information. Personally, I think the "delete the emaul" approach will be more effective.

I find new services that banks provide for their customers very convenient, but let's face it no system can be perfect. If it was built by humans it can be certainly compromised by them too.

There's a way to approach these people. Their job is to solve problems, and don't like people who won't support them in their job. Put it back on them - if they can supply the password, you can complete your job; if they can't, then they see for themselves that the onus is on them to come up with a suitable solution.

See the difference? It's "I can't do this" vs "I can do this, but I need something from you - have you got it?". The latter projects a professional attitude; the former doesn't.

Of course there is a way to approach these people. But mostof the techies would not be techies if they snapped into help desk mode after few grooling hours of working on the connectivity. My take - just an unfortunate situation, time to move on after 15 years. Or find the bitch-queen and send her a a link to your post - Iam sure that mostof the us on your side.

10 years ago I went to college with a computer containing: a motherboard, CPU, RAM, graphics card, 3D acceleration card, ethernet card, SCSI card, sound card, 2-3 hard drives, CD-ROM, CD-Recorder, etc.... Now, I use a MacBook Pro, but it wouldn't matter if I had a PC... I'd have a machine with a keywork, mouse, monitor, and box. Upgrades? Everything is on-board, USB/Firewire peripherals add my expansion. Do I need to upgrade a video card? Why bother, when you can get an entire computer for $400-$600 why do I need replacable parts? Only on laptops where a $2k-$3k replacement cost may matter do I even think about how nice it would be for a speed up. Computers are cheap and disposable.

Just to relate to your experience: I too find myself lately using more and more "stuff on board" but not because parts are cheaper. Because it's convenient.

2 years ago when I went to college I was recycling every part building new machines out of the old ones but discovery phase is over. So now I am content with my out of the box road worrior.

Agreed with suggestion, but playing davil's advocate here. Let's think further - (and I bet that's what doesn't make private key theory attractive for gvmnt) older citizens may not be able to manage multiple private keys, and I don't want to restrict innability to successfully manage multiple passes/keys to the after retirenment group of citizens. I am resetting my passes almost every month.
