One of the best ways for Linux to grow is to make it easy to author applications for the platform. With the RAD tools that Borland can provide, this would encourage much more development.
It has come to my attention that you have confiscated the data that belonged to Ken Williams, a brilliant man and a close friend of mine.
The 4 gigabytes of Data that was formerly hosted on packetstorm.harvard.edu contained 7 months of school work , and 4 years of dedication into the Internet's largest security site, "Packet Storm Security". In no way was Ken using the server space (graciously donated to him by Jeff Gray!) for profit, but as a storing house to hold his life's work.
Please, mail Mr. Ken Williams (snail mail) copies of the data that belongs to him. You can contact him here: jkwilli2@unity.ncsu.edu
Packet Storm Security had over 4 gigs and 45,000 files of Security related bulletins, exploits, technical writeups, references, and even some 0-day.
It was basically an archive of all things security. It had a discussion forum where people could talk about security / computers / operating systems, new files and documents updated nightly, and even a poll thrown in. (heh, those were clever)
If you had read the information on the SETI@Home website, you would understand the reasons for not making this an open source application. They specifically addressed this.
Releasing the source code would provide ample opportunity to the same kind of idiots who do mail bombs, hijack ratings, and generally screw a good thing up. Arguing that it would be more good than bad is crazy : They have working clients for many platforms right now, and that seems fine to me. What good would open source do? Open source is good stuff, but it's NOT the solution for everything!
Argument 1: AOL is buying everything, all my favorite software!
They aren't destroying the software. Besides, there are alternatives: Sonique, WMP, all kinds of MP3 players out there. There's Opera, IE, and Mozilla if you refuse to use an AOL product (Mozilla is not owned by AOL)
Argument 2: Oh my bloody God, AOL will put IM in Winamp, and "You've got mail" in Netscape.
AOL acquired Netscape Communications Corporation back in January. So far, the effects have been almost completely transparent, its not called "AOL Communicator 4.6" is it?. Chill guys, they were mainly after Netcenter, and given its user-base, who wouldn't be after it? AOL has kept their instant messenger program out of ICQ, and God knows ICQ is far from perfect, but so far I see no ads, no flashing AOL logos, its more or less the same.
Argument 3: AOL will corrupt MP3, etc etc etc
AOL is a helluva powerful company. If they wanted to, they could REALLY expose shoutcast, Winamp, and crush that AMP lawsuit like a bug. This new merger will not kill Nullsoft, and anyone who knows Justin Frankel knows that he wouldn't sacrifice his company to oblivion. MP3 is a hot market now, AOL was SMART to take advantage of the opportunity first.
I bought stock in US Robotics after they announced plans to develop a modem that was faster than their 33.6, and it went pretty high. then 3COM bought USR, and its been hell ever since.
Absolutely rock bottom. Now, this can not POSSIBLY help it. In regards to the lawsuit, I think it is just some dumbfuck looking for someone to sue. We all owe a lot to 3com and US Robotics, else we may all be surfing at 14000 right now.
I have a cable that runs from upstairs to the second floor, down to the basement, and then crosses the basement to the phone jack in the corner, and I still connect at 44000. It used to be 48000, but its better than 33600.
If you ever download it from "last-built" or if it has a name like "05-18-99-M6" It is not M6, it just means that the code checkins are from the M6 pool (correct me if wrong)
That's why there are 05-28-99-M7 builds, even though M7 is far from done.
Dude, when I did my research paper on Star Wars/SDI a few months ago, an old MNTEX video from '89 mentioned the orbiting supercomputers that would have diamonds used in them one way or another.
170 GPH doesn't seem like that much. That's 21760 ounces an hour, or about 6 ounces pumping per second at a spread rate. Distributed over the surface area of the MB, and it would SEEM like a light breeze.

I don't think JK said "art" as in graceful, classy. He meant it as a whole pasttime, a new thing. As in becoming so popular that it has its own style and following.
Chill, don't let one small thing like that upset you on the whole article.

Go Borland!
If a "shirt button" amount of anti-matter can launch the space shuttle, then I sure hope this 60 story, 39 million cubic foot balloon doesn't crash...
I missed it, doh. Anyone know where I could download it in some video format?

Maybe CmdrTaco could help out now that he has some change? Rob?
Ken disabled robots while he was on genocide2600.com , so I doubt they got much..

The mac M6 build will be available tuesday afternoon. They had a nasty blocker bug in mailnews if I recall.

Good grief, that sounds like overkill.
800x600 is fine for me most of the time on my 15"
