  1. h20 environmentally responsible? on Boeing Hydrogen Powered Drone First Flight · · Score: 1

Not to take anything away from the what appears to be an exciting design. But, I hope I am not the only person to take issue with the words "environmentally responsible" and "only water as a byproduct" when in reference to the atmosphere. Atmospheric water vapor is one of the the greatest contributors to the greenhouse effect.

Potential injury to marine life aside - I'm interested to know how such a system can overcome the extreme variability of seawater. From what I just read this isn't as simple as sonar sending a circular pulse out and getting a 'bounceback'; this is sending information. Surely the abundance of microorganisms, animal matter, let alone local variations in saline and other chemical content which strongly define the physical properties of seawater would be difficult to adjust for?

You're exactly right. And if you do a quick bit of research, you'll find that there was an equivalent (but far less prevalent) movement only a few decades ago toting global cooling and how everything was going to freeze and we'd all die.

There is no such thing as scientific consensus. Only non-scientists keep using this phrase. The scientific method dictates that all knowledge has to be re-evaluated constantly. Blind belief and 'consensus' belongs somewhere else, that is called religion.
