Nah, nobody really wants Sony destroyed. All we want is a more balanced market for videogames. Monopolies are bad.
Nintendo, which is so beloved over here, did awful things while they dominated with their NES and SNES. We do not need to talk about MS, do we?
I will be happy if this gen all three consoles get a marketshare around 30%-40%.
Remember, as a kid, you used to go to the park with your mates for a game of football (soccer to you Yanks). The two best footballers in the group would be the team "captains" and the rest of you would stand in line as the two captains picked their players, one-by-one and alternately, from the lines of kids. Invariably, being slightly rotund and crap at football, I was one of the last kids to be picked, usually after the 4-stone one-legged kid with asthma. However, being crap at football, my true mates sometimes let me take a penalty, just so I could go home and boast to my parents how I'd scored a goal. And sometimes, if I missed the goal from the penalty, my mates would say "Never mind, have another go", put the ball back on the penalty spot and move one of the jumpers to make the goal a bit wider so there was no chance of me *not* scoring. (Of course, by this stage we were 15-0 down so my single goal had no effect on the overall game result).
Let me tell you that you had awesome friends when you were a kid. The guys in the first school I went, were more worried about winning those soccer matches (that nobody remembered after an hour) than in making sure everybody had fun, let alone letting me shoot a fucking penalty:(
I like the new design over the old one, but I will take the black letters over a white background with blue links any day. Slashdot Light is really pretty.
That is pretty nice and heartwarming, but I still can't use Ubuntu because my wifi card won't work.
If we were talking about something like a video driver for the lattest nvidia or ati card, ok, I can live without fancy graphics. But I need an internet connection.
Anyway, I installed Openoffice, Gaim, Firefox, and all the crazy stuff on my Windows XP.

But...the $600 in this case just get you a PS3, not a PS3 and 5 or 6 games, extra controllers and whatever. Just the console.
