You're ignoring the changes between the revisions. GG: Groundbreaking. Some serious inconsistencies but who cares? Thank you GG for bringing this into the world. Version 2.0: Minutia reigns! A micromanaging nightmare. Version 3.0: The 3.0 books were very tight. Nearly anything you could think of doing, there was a way to figure out how to do it. And it never took 30 hours of research or arguing. But there were some serious exploits and balance issues. Version 3.5: Corrected many of the serious exploits like Hold Person and many of the 'buff' spells and many other balance issues.
The difference between 2 and 3 was like night and day. Anyone with half an elf would have bought the set. And 3.5 (the update to 3) was virtually demanded by the fans due to exploits and min/max problems. I don't hear any clamoring for another version.
Go ahead and buy them if you want, but I think everyone will be happy with 3.5 for years, and anyone with 4.0 books might just be thrown out into the snow and called a n00b.
Insightful? I wasn't trying to be insightful. Whoever modded me with that is insightless. I was mocking the whole "What would Jesus do/drive/etc?"
Maybe my joke wasn't funny but I find it hard to believe that it couldn't be perceived as an attempt as a joke. Well, whatever. The mob has spoken. I tried to make a joke and was rated as ZERO; meanwhile my first (&only) responder who apparently has problems with the English language, has a rating of 1.
I guess I should preface my next post with (insight/humor/information/et al) that way people can vote appropriately. Actually, yeah. That's what I'm going to do.
Wait a second. Current global warming is supposed to be caused by humans burning fossil fuels. Fossil fuels came from dinosaurs. What the hell did dinosaurs burn?
Before you do something, ask yourself "what would happen if a million people did this"? Does that include Jesus? Maybe I should ask myself, "what would happen if a million people did this, but Jesus didn't?"
Or "what would happen if a million people didn't do this, but Jesus did do it?"
Now, I might be able to figure out the results of what a million people might do because that's easy, but dude, I just can't lay odds on the Son of God.
Hopefully Adam's family and platoon isn't so depleted to not be able to function until April 13. It's been about 10 years since I was in the military, but at that time if you died while on active duty, your next of kin (or whomever you designate) would get at least 200k. And there were a lot of ancillary benefits and services that amount to at least 100k. The 200k is primarily from life insurance (it only cost $9/month then, it can't be much more now...and if I was in Iraq...) and while I can't attest to how swiftly that is paid, the services are available immediately.
As long as they *know* about the services they should be all right until Paypal and/or the insurance kicks in. I fervently hope that some person in the military has the job of informing family members and next of kin of their benefits.
Comcast outsources most of its telemarketing to 3rd party companies. I know this because I used to work for six years for one of those companies. The Comcast marketing VPs were very interested in all kinds of metrics (sales per hour, cost per sale, blah, blah) and the bottom line. The only time there was any feedback vis a vis quality assurance was after the fact (IE someone calls in and complains).
The supervisors on the floor have little incentive to discipline their agents. If their team doesn't produce sales, they'll lose their job.
Same goes for the agents. They have little incentive to be 100% honest and often aren't. And even if they don't out and out lie, they're salespeople not technicians. Much of what they say is just flat out wrong.
Now, Comcast does offer some good products and often has some very nice offers (one for the Northeast was 100 days free with free installation, no contract) just like many other companies that use telemarketers. But why would you ever in a million years be surprised when a salesperson isn't on the up and up?
Funny you should mention that. My former linear algebra teacher used to work for SPAWAR back in the 60s-70s. He spent years collecting data on (at that time) existing aircraft and applying it to various formulas (mainly least square matrices, which is why he brought it up) to estimate the GSH/flight. He determined that it would be a maintenance nightmare and recommended against it. They ignored him and made the jets anyway.
He cited that as the key reason why he decided to teach. He thought that once in awhile someone in class might actually listen to him.
Yeah, just like 50 years ago my 400 gig hard drive was 28.6 gigs.:-P
While Moore's law is a conjecture specifically relating to computers, the general idea clearly relates to many other technologies.

Uhhhh, maybe you're thinking of Apollo?
*cough* and I'm apparently not the only one bothered by this. :O
Ah! The odometer only went up to 999.9 and they never thought of running it forward! Losers.

Actually Paypal has been sued successfully, just not into oblivion. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paypal#Legal_issues I actually got a piece of that class action. Bought myself a 6-pack.
