Wars are extension of politics (and economics) and there's hardly any nobility in them except in romantic literature. Wars are a marriage of selfishness and greed no matter whose side you are on. In the end someone happens to stay alive, creeps out of the fog and declares a win. Killing another human being in a war is not a noble but a practical act.

The noblest of all are those who refuse to take arms. Sadly millions in the world live their lives in a psychosis of nationalism and willingly follow (If the army is seen as a viable alternative to make your living and to live a life of happiness there's something gravely wrong in the nation) their leaders to the end in a coma, defending the craziest causes and selfish aggressive projects.

The logic would therefore be that we need something to unite us and free us from the deeply ingrained thought patterns. Even if the expedition to Mars provided to be failure it would be a unifying experience and a great symbolic leap to somewhere else.

Most probably things advance as usual and the only place we can truly feel unity is in misery. The masochistic beating continues until we all can feel the pain of the others as our own. The moment is still far away.

The arrogance and selfishness lead astray a bit. The war wasn't won by just massing in troops but also because of the tactical and strategic mistakes by Germany. One can claim whatever, but the things just happened to go like that with help from the German leadership. The nationalist fervor is based on a false pretense. We should have gotten rid off it already after we killed each other by millions, but the winning states divided the world between each other and locked into trenches.

One of the founding ideas of the EU is to prevent that kind of wars and thinking happening again.

If you have first worked with the 24bit 48khz or better original for few days (a mixing or mastering job) the differences are easy to spot, and the mp3 compression feels like a rape. Mp3 compression sounds spotty and grainy at the highest quality settings too. The coherence of the original sound is lost forever.

The compression algorithms which use the frequency masking technique work great with earphone listening or anechoic chambers, but in real life there are all kind of scattered reflections coming at different times to your ears, and so the masked frequencies would be heard if there were any.

Using digital technology great things can be achieved, and not so far in the future there will be enough bandwidth and processing power to handle lossless audio streams of the highest quality.

It might be cool to have soy based toner in your printer, but the overall damage to the environment may be wider and larger. A lot of companies greenwash their products in order to widen their customer base.
