  1. There are a few problems I can see on IRS Pushes for New Reporting at Expense of Privacy · · Score: 2, Insightful

It's been quite obvious in the last few years especially, that transactions on a credit card don't reflect "real" monetary transactions. How many people spend way more than they can afford, and pay back little for long periods of time. Also, it seems bad policy for a gov't to know how and where you spend money. There is no reason they should have record of that. Imagine the legal power of having records of the spending of a Senator for example. Imagine the blackmail power that would give the IRS.

I am a converted PC gamer ever since I put XBMC on my XBox. The biggest reason for me here is cheating. I don't want anyone flaming me about how cheating takes away from the game structure. I don't want to spend a week trying to beat a game. There really aren't any PC games you can't cheat in, especially with trainers. And now I can run trainers in XBMC and I am happy as hell. It has opened up a lot of games I got frustrated with and quit. Now, I get to see the end without spending my rare free by being frustrated and annoyed. I still love gaming on my PC, but I can play new games without upgrading my machine every couple of weeks.

Mac desktop keyboards and their little green "have to view from a hovering position" caps lock lights really piss me off. I don't use it, but I do hit it by mistake quite often because I'm a horrible typist. It really sucks in graphic design, when there's a chance you could mistakenly modify a customer's file because of that damn key. My Logitech keyboard lets you know when Caps Lock is on "flashes the big green text on the monitor." The Mac guys could take a cue from Logitech. They may not get viruses, but I'll be damned if that is not a bad keyboard design.

I agree. My AS-Rock Dual mobo has the AM2 expansion slot. The kind of scalability I can use with AMD is impressive. Also, these prices are extremely impressive. I don't know how many new machines I'm gonna build with my girlfriend's financial aid money next month, but it's gonna be a lot. Daddy needs a new media center because he keeps using the one he's got for daily stuff and for playing with Ubuntu! I do wonder though, does anyone know what would be the best processor in the new AMD/Intel lineup to run OSX?

I have to point out, that the list here is a list of manufacturers mostly, not providers. Most manufacturers will try to back both horses. Whether or not they will be able to is another matter, but I guarantee they want to. They win either way. And, in the end, if one format wins they will just go to producing machines for that format. As far as the guys on the list, a lot of them were making both. Some Beta manufacturers died in the process, but in the new war, even if they go the wrong way, safe bet they are building the other as well, just waiting to release in case of format death.
